If I am LYB, I would like to have a chinese player to play him in qtr, semi and final. He can't possibly kill 3 in a row like wmc. ;) Unless wmc can be his coach? ;)

You wrong, LCW will retire after 2013. That is when he will not just win a gold medal in Olympic but as well as in Asian games.
And beside, for me he can regain his number 1 rank till his retire.
For now, no one can beat him.

I do not think these 4 have equal chances of winning oly gold.

    LD 50%
    LCW 25%
    CL 25%
    PG 0%

    Let's see next year's OG2012

There might be some show stopper to these top seeded players.

Remember Guatemala's Kevin Cordon beat CL and India's Ajay Jayaram beat KT in the 1st round of WC2011

Depends on how far they can survive without being knocked out or self destruct in the earlier rounds.

Assuming they are in their best condition and they meet in the semis:

    LCW 51%: LD 49%
    CL 60%: PG 40%

    In the finals:

    CL 51%: LCW 49%

But I think upsets could well happen in the early rounds. These forecasts are based on the current performances. How well will these top players perform during London Oly will depend on their physical and mental condition, assuming they continue to train hard.

My 2 cents worth, better for LCW to be ranked lower than 1st going into OLYMPICS & end up as OLYMPIC champion...less pressure when not no. 1?

Lee Chong Wei will not cut down on his tournaments this year (2011)

    .
Well, Lee Chong Wei will not cut down on his tournaments. And he has confirmed it in this article.

    Source: http://www.nst.com.my/nst/articles/nlk123e231/Article/

Article by K.M. BOOPATHY (On 05-Nov-2011)

Lee Chong Wei will not cut down on his tournaments this year as he wants to have a healthy lead over his China rivals Lin Dan and Chen Long in the Olympic race.

Chong Wei is well aware that he can no longer sustain the same level of performance without quality preparation but he wants to ensure he has sufficient ranking points to maintain his World No 1 position before playing in fewer tournaments.

He has confirmed playing in the Hong Kong (Nov 15-20) and China (Nov 22-27) Opens and the World Super Series Finals in Liuzhou, China on Dec 14-18. The World No.1 may also compete in the Macau Open on Nov 29-Dec 4.

"My recovery rate is not as good as a younger player like Chen Long and I have to train harder and prepare longer for main tournaments," he said yesterday.

"I will push hard in the next few tournaments to gain more Olympic qualifying points before cutting down on tournaments,"

"Chen Long and Lin Dan are closing the gap on the world ranking and if I can earn sufficient points in the next three or four tournaments, I can breathe easy

"The focus next year will be on quality preparation and probably the right time to reduce on tournaments. I will play in the Malaysia and Korea Opens as well as the All England and the Thomas Cup qualifying rounds in the first four months.

"The Thomas Cup Finals will be held in May and I could play another tournament before the Olympics in August and that will give me plenty of time to focus on my training."

"Chen Long relies on his physical strength and it becomes difficult if my preparation is enough but I have learnt a lot from my two defeats to him.

"The defeats are also a blessing in disguise for me as it is not all about Lin Dan but I must also be prepared for Chen Long."

Rankings released today - Thursday 01-Dec-2011

    .
It has been more than a month ago that I last updated the rankings. Let's have a look at it again (based on the rankings released today - Thursday 01-Dec-2011).

    Source: http://bwfcontent.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/category.aspx?id=2760&category=472

    1. Lee Chong Wei (MAS)........99147 points (10 out of 14 tournaments)
    2. Lin Dan (CHN)..................88646 points (10 out of 15 tournaments)
    3. Chen Long (CHN)..............81690 points (10 out of 16 tournaments)
    4. Peter Gade (DEN).............75513 points (10 out of 14 tournaments)
    5. Chen Jin (CHN).................67380 points (10 out of 17 tournaments)

Chen Jin is working very hard - with 17 tournaments played (trying to overtake Peter Gade).

The more interesting question seems to be:

"Can LD replace LCW as WR1 before London Olympics 2012"?

We need to monitor it. :):):)

By the time we arrive closer to the 2012 London Olympics, Chen Long might be able to topple LCW and/or LD, to become WR1. ;););)

How many satays are you prepared to put on the table? :D

The fact is LD is now ahead of CL. And LD finds CL an easier opponent than LCW. :p
