just for you I went out and played with the 700 for 2 hours and 30 minutes, single games. happy to say that it was pretty much what I expected, the shaft is very responsive, felt very much like the first generation. keep in mind that there is always a curve in racket variation, some are stiffer and some are flexier. the two 700PR I strung up, one is slightly stiffer, but both pretty much similar to firstgens, as I used to own several firstgens and there indeed had been some stiffer than the others. visually it looks ALOT like the firstgen if you block out the yellow. one weighted 101g and the other 100g with vs-850 at 28lbs pre10% 3 layers of RKEP G09 grip I didn't feel any difference from the new grommet system except easier to string that's it for now, cheers.
thanks, the cat appreciates the compliment. just got back from a few hours of doubles and here's a little thought my friend happened to use a second gen 700 so I did a comparison: 2ndgen feels substantially heavier and stiffer. I also owned a 2ndgen long time ago, it was roughly the same feel: heavy and stiff (the limited dragon version is heavier tho). now come to think about it, the weighted spec 101g and 100g of 700PR seems to be relatively light consider I put 3 layers of overgrip. my n90s are usually measured 104-105 with the exact same wrap. anyhow, I think 700PR has successfully captured the essence of the first generation, and this is quite awesome for those who like the original.
u mean the string patern is different with the first gen? so the feel of the racket must be different to, i think.. mm
Kaching.....Do we just find a first gen AT700 in another paint design sell in the current market right now?
new grommet system. personally I don't think it makes that much difference. some ppl argue that old grommet system is safer in terms of miss-hits, I don't really agree, it depends on where you miss-hit really lol.
Seems like there are certain weak points around the AT frame which probably related to the grommet system. This is what I experienced with my lovely AT800OF after the "miss-hit" and the racket was newly strung with Li Ning AP62 @24lbs. It was hitting the area around the 1 o'clock corner about 6-7cm away from the frame, the string was broken and the frame cracked
I think it has to do with both the grommets and the softer frame. Hopefully yonex has answered that and fixed it up
Well here's some photos grabbed off the internet about the AT700PR. Im not an AT700 expert, but the frame seems to be thinner. Expert opinion?
To be honest I think all Yonex frames are pretty fragile, there have been many cases both personal and hearsay eg ns9900, ns9000, at900p/t, mp100, ti10s, etc....
oh yeah, Arc series on the other hand is surprisingly strong... I have this crack at the throat of an ARC10 and it never gets worse, even after using it for an entire tournament.
Had a chance to swing one around and I too have concluded that it is a remake of the Generation 1 and not the 2nd nor the Dragon. Good for first gen lovers, but I'm a little worried about the new pattern. I'm one of "those" firm believers that the old pattern was better, but the issue here is more to do with having more holes. It ultimately translates to an increased weakness on a frame that was known to have graphite sinking in issues. I guess we will have to wait and see, but all I know is that the At700 durability was better than the AT800 as well as the AT900 line and I've always theorized that it could have been due to the extra holes without the nanocarbon technology.
They should of done the dragon, the dragon! Then they should of changed it so that it doesn't have the same graphite sinking problem.
Yonex Armortec 700 Premium Does anyone knows what is the best price for this racket in malaysia?By the way, anyone used this racket can explain alittle about its playing performance. What about comparing with zforce? Anyone has photos for this racket???
