According to Engga Setiawan, Djarum's coach, Joyireh play well so far, meanwhile, Ramadhani is still under perform. not in his standard yet.

    Semi-Finals Day

This afternoon's semi-finals will see both INA and THA supplying 19 players/teams to the various events, followed by MAS with 11 and SIN, 8.

THA is most successful in the U19 categories with 3 entries in both the girls' singles and doubles events and are also strong in BS U13, BS U19 and BD U19 with 2 entries each respectively.

INA has 2 entries each in BS U17, U13, GS U13, U15, GDU13 and BD U17. But surprisingly INA is not represented in BS U15 which is completely dominated by MAS and THA with 2 entries each.

MAS's best showing is in BD U15 with an overwhelming three entries and is poised to capture this title with only INA to stand in it's way.

Surprisingly SIN has 2 candidates in the GD U17 but their remaining opponents from INA and JPN will make life extremely difficult, I'm sure.

With a relatively small contingent, JPN is able to secure places in GS U17 (2), GD U17 and BD U17, coincidentally all U17s. But where have all their boy's singles gone? No more Tago's-to-be?

IND's very small team produces 2 semi-finalists in the BS U13 event and they will face off with their opponents from INA.

Up-and-coming PHI and VIE will still have to prove themselves.

It is most likely that INA and THA will return home with the most titles, each of them tied with 19 semi-finalists. THA seems more intent on blooding their youngsters as more of their female teenagers have already progressed to the professional arena with the likes of better-known stars like the 'Rat'.

We shall know by the end of today which badminton powerhouse in southeast Asia will continue to exert it's dominance.

    The Finals

The truth is out for tomorrow's finals.

INA' 19 semi-finalists have been drastically cut down to 6, while THA still has 12 remaining out of their 19. Percentage-wise, MAS seems the most successful with 8 finalists out of 11 semi-finalists and SIN has a success rate of 4 out of 8.

In summary the success rates are as follows:

    1. MAS 72%, 8/11
    2. THA 63%, 12/19
    3. SIN 50%, 4/8
    4. IND 50%, 1/2
    5. INA 31%, 6/19
    6. JPN 25%, 1/4

But THA still leads with 12 finalists, followed by MAS 8, INA 6, SIN 4 and IND and JPN with one finalist each. But will THA continue to lead with the most number of winners? And can INA score 100% in tomorrow's finals by winning 6 titles? Or will MAS continue to surprise?

I was told that there will be a live telecast on StarHub Ch 201 and elsewhere in the region.

Ramadhani plays with a very laid back style like Taufik

I watched Kisona play in the quarterfinals against the Thai girl. She was very nervous in the first game but made a comeback in the 2nd game. Its a pity this petite Indian girl lost to her taller opponent. I was amused that the Malaysian Chinese female coach was giving Kisona instructions in Mandarin.

Correction. The juniors from the Thai national team are NOT participating in this tournament.

Look out for this Thai girl Chaiwan Pattarasuda in the GS U13 final. I bet she will do vey well just like her counterpart Ratchanok Intanon

Yes, it has been a long time since we have local Singaporean talents in the finals. Let's hope they will continue to train hard and represent Singapore one day.
