Wow, I wonder if the truth will ever come out. Accidentally missing the tests or deliberate attempt to not get caught.
I hope the Koreans will clean up their Association if it turns out they are at fault. The MDs are much less interesting without lee and Yoo.
LYD stops training and hires a top lawyer http://www.badzine.net/news/yong-dae-stops-training-and-hires-a-lawyer/28824/
Something about the South Koreans that are always screwing themselves up. The KBA is so centralized that not a single person dare to be proactive to take care of business.
Depends on whether he's suing BWF or BKA... If BWF, I wonder what good it would do since the penalties of missing tests are already clearly spelt out. If BKA, somehow doubt it'd be BKA, but could be for negligence in informing BWF of his locations.
there is no way they could sue BWF. If BKA, what will be the consequence? BKA is guilty and the association be banned from international competitions?
The recourse taken by LYD in hiring this lawyer should not be interpreted as his legal action to file a lawsuit against BWF nor BKA I believe this is a way for the athlete to fight for himself against the sentence. The salient and underlying purpose is to seek for opportunity for : a. cancelling the sentence, and lift the 1 year ban period; or b. reducing the ban period from 1 year to either 3 months or 6 months; There would be no consequence for LYD. The appointment of his lawyer is based on his constitutional rights, whereby a person reserves all rights to defend his legal titles / rights, and to seek justice (based from his perspective) under the principle of equality before the law. IMHO
^ Yeah, I can't even imagine what poor Lee must be going thru, especially if he's innocent of doping. If I were him, I'd be livid with myself, BKA, WADA, and BWF in that particular order! I'm sure his lawyer will ask for all of his previous regular and random test results from WADA and BWF, and will want to prove that he's never failed a test. Hiring a lawyer allows him to have access to the best professional advice to maneuver around this messed-up unfortunate incident. Even if he doesn't manage to reduce his punishment, I'm thinking that a 1 yr hiatus is still good for him to assess his future. Hopefully he'll come out of this fresher and stronger for the Olympic 2016 yr... or he can go into acting and become more famous and make more money there...
I've posted this elsewhere... but here's it again briefly: The two players are not accused of using banned substances. The two players were not sanctioned for failing a dope test. They were penalised for three "whereabouts failures" within 18 months. The WADA rules are the same for every sport and every sportsperson. For a basic overview of the regulatory process, please see cobalt's thread on the sanctions.
IMO, prior to the 2012 OG, MDs is one of the most exciting and thrilling discipline to watch, with the intense competition, action and drama going on in court. Not sure if it's just me, but with the retirement and reshuffling of top players after the OG, I feel the game is kind of losing its luster.... Koreans to me, have always been strong contenders in the MD discipline. With their top pairs out of action, the MDs game will lose more luster and competition..
^ Wholly agree. Those yesteryears with epic games between Lee/Jung, Fu/Cai, Boe/Mo, and when they were still at their peak, Koo/Tan.
Everyone, please stay away from pointing fingers at entire cultures, races, nationalities. This will not be tolerated. Thank you.
My observation is that there's been a change in the way MD players are strategizing. Fu/Cai and Lee/JJS used to get into long and epic rallies. But it seems more and more MD pairs are focusing on winning short and cheap points. Maybe the forerunners of this style is Setiawan/Ahsan. They don't try to get into rallies, but simply win quick points off the serve and return. This is making MD matches go much faster and less entertaining.
