I find this one very difficult to sing now. Indeed it was one of my favourites during my time. Now I find the pitch is too high for my vocal comfort and one needs strong vocal energy. "Pretty Woman" is lively and you can surely get others to sing with you, especially if a pretty chic starts it. But for the oldies I used to love Everly Bros' "Bye, Bye Love" for harmony, still do. In fact most of EB songs are lovely! Oldies or not, "Rock Around The Clock" is still much alive and really gets you down on the dance floor for a good rock 'n' roll session. So is Elvis' "Blue Suede Shoes" you mentioned. But I hardly sing KO songs nowadays. That's why I never heard "Nobody". Now I prefer the slower and sometimes quick Broadway numbers as found in "Cats", "ABBA". And others composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and some 'modern' Classicals by names such as John Rutter, which are best sung in a choir.
For singing in harmony, EB's songs are excellent . For singing songs in harmony, EB's songs are excellent. We will get many people to sing along with us. For people to get up to do dancing with our songs, the 'rock 'n' roll' and the 'twist' songs are the more popular ones. .

The Sound of Music And I've almost forgotten all the delightful songs in "The Sound of Music". Recently a friend sent me pictures of Julie Andrews and her entourage some 49 yrs later and you see how they've grown! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sound_of_Music Make sure you scroll to the end and read the lyrics (new) for the song “These Are My Favourite Things". They were having a reunion after 40 years and all were looking healthy and amazingly well... Remember the 7 children of the Von Trapp family? The Sound of Music' won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1965 and is one of the most popular musicals ever produced. 40 Yrs Later: The 7 Children in 'The Sound of Music'. (Sorry unable to attach the pictures.) CURRENTLY..... It wouldn't be funny if it weren't so true... Julie Andrews turned 69 and to commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favourite Things" from the legendary movie "The Sound Of Music." Here are the actual lyrics she used: Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings, Bundles of magazines tied up in string, These are a few of my favourite things. Cadillac's and cataracts, and hearing aids and glasses, Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favourite things.. When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favourite things, And then I don't feel so bad. Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions, No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring, These are a few of my favourite things. Back pains, confused brains, and no need for sinnin', Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin', And we won't mention our short, shrunken frames, When we remember our favourite things. When the joints ache, When the hips break, When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad. Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores. Please share Ms. Andrews' clever wit and humour with others who would appreciate it. Delightful songs in "The Sound of Music" . . Thanks Loh: for reminding us of delightful songs from "The Sound of Music". Not long ago, I was at a karaoke place when "Edelweiss" was sung. It was a surprise that almost everyone, young and old, all joined in to sing together. Somehow this song always brings tears of joy to my eyes. Don't know if it's the tune or the lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcTAEhweey8&feature=related .
