Kkk/tbh definitely on the decline. They require a new first class coach to rejuvenate. Rexy has overstayed his tenure. When a coach stays long and the charges are not improving, it means the coach is past his usefulness and effectiveness.

For now, no splitting KKK/TBH. After Olympics very likely they will split. Not their decision but the coaches is thinking about it. During training they have been tested with various partners.

They dont stand a chance winning any medal in OG12.

Split them now and after makes no different.

It would be interesting if KKK/TBH are not qualified to play in OG12.

But, according to the tradition, no one will be fired or to bear the responsibility.

Instead, all of those involved will be given another chance, like OG16, OG20...

For doubles it's 2 pairs if in top 8, 1 in top 16 onwards. Singles is 3 in top 4, 2 in top 16, 1 others.
    KKK/TBH currently no 5. China =1, Denmark=1, Korea =2, INA =2, Msia=1, Japan =1, Taiwan=1, Germany=1, Total =10. This is from current top 16. China's Guo/CB if can make it to top 8, then China =2.

Koo and Tan to stay together until after 2012 London Games

PETALING JAYA: The top men’s doubles pair of Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, who did not perform to expectations at the recent World Championships in London, will be left alone to carry on playing together until after the Olympics next year.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh maintained yesterday that they will not make major changes as the London Olympics will be taking place eleven months from now.
“The most important aspect we have to focus on is to find ways to overcome the weaknesses in their game and making sure they will place themselves in the top four at the end of the qualifying period in April next year.
“We have decided not to do anything drastic with the Olympic Games now less than a year away but we leave it to the coaching and training committee to decide on ways to bring them up again,” said Nadzmi.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong were seen as one of the contenders for the world title aside from top singles player Lee Chong Wei but instead they suffered a tame defeat at the hands of South Korean bogey pair Ko Sung-hyun and Yoo Yeon-seong in the quarter-final stage at the world meet.
The former All-England champions and world No. 1 pair have dropped a spot to fifth position in the latest world rankings, with their place in the top four taken by their conquerors in the world meet Sung-hyun-Yeon-seong.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong will compete in the China Masters and Japan Open next month.
The BAM exco yesterday also decided to allocate an additional RM1.6mil to strengthen the development programmes for the respective affiliates.
It is the biggest amount allocated for development purposes.

It is courage, commitment and determination that make the difference. They must take the bull by the horn. TBH/KKK know they can not beat the korean by defending. They are not stupid. They are smart.
They know they must enhance their speed and power to play attacking game. Are they committed to overhaul themselves? They have what it takes. They just need to be strong and bold.

    [h=1]BAM blame Rexy's training programme for Kien Keat-Boon Heong’s failure[/h][h=2]By RAJES PAUL[/h]

KUALA LUMPUR: The heat is now on national doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky to change his ways following his blue eyed boys Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong’s meek quarter-final exit at the World Championships in London recently.
Yesterday, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) came to one conclusion – that the failure of Kien Keat-Boon Heong from playing the right kind of game against South Koreans Ko Sung-hyun-Yoo yeon-seong – had to do with their training programme.
This was based on scientific findings made by the National Sports Institute (NSI)’s team led by it’s director Datuk Dr Ramlan Aziz during a two-hour meeting with BAM’s president Datuk Seri Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, secretary Ng Chin Chai, general manager Kenny Goh and high performance director Datuk James Selvaraj at Nadzmi’s residence yesterday.
Dr Ramlan’s presentation showed why Kien Keat-Boon Heong were not able to re-produce the same form that saw them reaching the final of the world meet in Paris just a year ago.
Kenny said that the findings would pave the way for BAM to make drastic changes in a bid to revive Kien Keat-Boon Heong’s confidence and also their reputation as a feared pair ahead of the London Olympic Games next year.
The changes are expected to be made after Rexy presents his report to the BAM’s coaching and training committee meeting (CNT) on Sept 8.
Kenny said that Dr Ramlan’s scientific assessments made yesterday had helped to narrow down the reasons behind the uninspiring defeat of Kien Keat-Boon Heong in London.
“Dr Ramlan showed us an in–depth video analysis on Kien Keat-Boon Heong. It showed their flaws and mistakes. He highlighted the difference in their game. Last year, they were on an attack mode but this year, they went defensive,” said Kenny.
“In his presentation, Dr Ramlan also showed that Koo had changed the way he approached the game. At the last world meet, he had the tendency to move forward and it worked to the pair’s advantage. This time, he was more passive at the front.
“Based on all these scientific findings, we have concluded that the problem lies with the training programme.
“We are not undermining Rexy but at the same time, we do not deny that the findings led us to believe the problem lies in the training programme and the coach.
Kenny said that Datuk Nadzmi has instructed Chin Chai as the chairman of the CNT to find a solution to the problem.
“Koo and Tan had finished as the runner-up at the last year’s world meet and also at the Asian Games in Guangzhou and this year’s All-England. But sports is cruel and no one remembers the number two.
“Their performances over the year also shows that Koo and Tan are still the country’s best pair and we will do whatever possible to help them break the barriers.
“We are still pining our hopes on them in next year’s Olympic Games and we are ready to make structural changes if that is needed to restore their confidence and their ability to rise to the occasion in the major events – especially at the Olympic Games just 11 months away.”
Rexy, a former Indonesian Olympic gold medallist and world champion in men’s doubles took a short break after the world meet and will report for work today.

So, it's the coach's fault, according to BAM.
Wonder why the meeting was held in Nadzmi’s residence?

...perhaps because all these years the meeting was held in the presences of the coaches and not at Nadzmi's residence. So can't spot the reasons.

but why are they defensive? because they chose to, or because the opponent force them to?

you can try to watch the Asian Games 2010 MD SF, when they play against Alvent/Ahsan....
very entertaining defensive game....most of the time, they chose to....
even opponent force also...they need to counter-force their opponent..
CY/FHF is good at that....forcing opponents to lift....and smashing all the way
for KKK/TBH case, they can still play drop shots or weak smashes...eg...WC 2011, against LXL/QZH...
they are lucky to win that...

    Yes, that's a strong possibility :)

And there was a poll in the last agenda, "who's gonna take the heat" :D

Again, in bc we have several threads on those poor coaches :p

I think KKK/TBH can do strong smashes if they want. The weak smashes that you mention is half force smash. It can be effective, precise and come with a surprise element. It is tactical. No problem with that.

But when they face the top 2 korean pairs and Fu /Chai they must be bold enough go counter attack with attack. At least most of the time. These 3 pairs are very stubborn pair. KKK/TBH have to play attack to intimidate them or at least make them not able to do all out attacked.

Look at how KKK/TBH play the korean during WC2011, after the first set victory the Korean became so bold they go attack all the way.

I concur with Rexy that KKK/TBH need to up speed and power. ALSO FITNESS! TBH can do strong smashes but I doubt he can smash like a machine like the korean. May be old Fu/Chai is more fit that them. Oh boy! Without these three elements, don't talk about strong attacking.

Besides, KKK used to be able to do very good drive and placing that forced their opponent to lift. But he completely lost to the korean during WC. I don't think he lost his flare but he lost his confidence against the korean.
