KKK/TBH still cant break the jinx.........but they did showed some fighting spirit here.....credit for that !! Try harder next time !!
Quarter Finals Summary
Petya vs Wang Yihan - For a player of Petya's size gravitating toward slightly heavier than the optimal weight for an athlete, she seems to be quite agile. Another player of her size is Jwala Gutta but she playing WD. This is especially needed when you are playing against Wang who takes her shots very early indeed. But I think Petya ran out of gas in the decider. Petya is a thinking player and does good round the head shots and tight net shots to take the pace off WY's game. Petya can be lethal if she has more endurance and stamina coupled with injection of pace when needed. But she needs to be careful of injuries due to her body mass index.

Mizukii/Kakiiwa vs Gutta/Ponnappa - Gutta is quite quick placing her shots to the sidelines using her wrist flicks and cover the net well but less optimal when opponents lifts to the baseline to her too often. As usual Mizuki is the one making the game plans and planning the openings of the game for her partner Kakiiwa. Mizuki has nice angle smashes too. Gutta reminds me of another Malaysian doubles player whose weight is less than optimal, Hoo Thien How.

KKK/TBH vs SHK/YSY - KKK is glaringly making so many errors that the Koreans attack him more than TBH. Numerous times I have seen KKK lifts the shuttle short or returning sloppy defensive short when being attacked. Although his forte is his flair commanding the net, the Koreans are being told by coaches to send the shuttle over KKK and not block directly to KKK. Although Malaysians started the 1st game with good positive mind, they went out of steam. I think the main problem is still KKK. Play till you win, not only the 1st game. You have to take the game and not expect the Koreans to hand the game to you on a silver platter.

LCW vs Sho - Not on tv court, so did not get to watch.

The rest of CHN vs CHN games, I didn't watch .

Simon vs PG - Although Simon won, Simon still makes unforced errors numerous times smashing so wild outside the court towards the carpet! Even in the 3rd game, simon was getting tense towards the end while PG was crawling back up. The match point was handed over to Simon due to PG's return error. Simon's injection of pace is poor, preferring to play at constant speeds. His forte is his overhead shots but lacks in the netting department. PG plays in flashes of superiority here and there. Due to his age, I care not to comment on lackings of his game now because he is already considered a FEAT making into so many QFs.

The rest of CHN vs CHN games, I didn't watch Simon vs PG - Although Simon won, Simon still makes unforced errors numerous times smashing so wild outside the court towards the carpet! Due to his age, I care not to comment on his lackings now because he is already considered a FEAT making into so many QFs. Xierui vs Ithanon - Toward the 2nd half of the game, Ithanon's movement looks uneven and slightly hampered. I think that was her major hindrance that prevented her playing her game and executing her half court chops and smashes. If you can't get to the shuttle early, then it's very difficult.
According to Thailand's sport news, during point 7-7 of G3, Ratchanok was fallen down causing more pain to her thigh and back (which was slightly injured in the earlier match with Shixian Wang). However, she decided to continue the match and couldn't get any point thereafter.
Tournament Break Summary This tournament mid break is for the purpose of giving time to me to do a quick summary and for the spectators to go have their dinner. Boe / Mogensen vs LYD/JJS I bet someone wants to know what the tattoo on Boe's arm in chinese calligraphy means, don't you guys? It's the same meaning as 'water'. I can say it might be for feng shui purposes ie the 5 elements of feng shui is fire, water, wood, metal & earth. So to solidify his personification of water and to bring elemental luck to himself, hence the tattoo. What do you guys think? In terms of skills and mastery of game plans, these two pairs are not that far apart, except in terms of gamesmanship, the Danes are better Some BCers have commented that Chen Long is the most childlike persona or has childlike character the most. I beg to differ. My vote is on Lee Yong Dae. Not only is he the most childlike he also has the most boyish grin which is very similar to Yang Yang's. Jung Jae Sung's short stature is by no means an indication that it diminishes his playing abilities in any way. In fact Koo Kien Keat has plenty to learn and emulate from this korean's total concentration and commitment to his game and complements his partner with good defence and retrieval abilities. His legs although short but they are full of power and when getting ready to defend attacking smashes his stance is like a powerful kungfu horse-stance. Boe and Mogensen's vital factor that made them win over the koreans is their hunger to win today. Chen Long vs Simon Simon's game is more suited to old style 15point system. Unless he reduces his numerous errors at crucial points, his game is not going to go anywhere at the top level where badminton is so competitive in 21 point system. His game today saw some magnificient netting but then again, so did Chen Long. Simon decided halfway in the first game to not give time to CL to execute his lethal overhead shots and it worked for a while but unfortunately Simon's own overhead shots is riddled with errors. For me, no matter how beautiful the shots came from both the players, it was just boring for me to watch. Gillian was right also when she commented that CL tend to be extra extravagant in celebrating his victory over SS in the semi final.
Actually Boe's tattoo is "永", meaning "eternity" or "forever". You might have confused it with "水" And I don't see how a simple high-five with the coaches is "extravagant" at all. It's just Gill being the Supremely Judgmental Voice of Badminton that she has been recently.
