well, like I said I didn't doubt their ability to storm away a big difference in points in the early match esp the 1st game... they will do brilliantly until unforced errors plague them like crazy... then they will be defensive to boot... I do believe they have the 'it' to win each match but can they sustain their focus through out? sometimes when I saw TBH made error he will get back the next point (sorta like redeeming the mistake he made)... as much as I like KKK at the front playing his best, sometimes he does get over eager thus losing points, esp. when they are nervous of the opponent catching up or they are the one that need to play catch up... when they turn the button to be their old self, that's when the redundancy pained my eyes... just my clumsy opinion, I'm only a casual player anyway... I may not know better
@eRa, flite: I'm just glad to see Koo/Tan show some improvement (any improvement!) over their dismal WC outing. I'm not even comparing them with the other top md pairs in terms of stamina, fitness etc. I think despite their loss to the Lee/Jung (who eventually beat Fu/Cai to become the winners of the China Masters), they should feel encouraged that they had shown vast improvements in their tactics and play to match their style of play. And this without Rexy. ..... By now, I'm sure they and coaches Pang and Tan know that they can do it, once they're able to play at 100% all out for 3 games. They just have to have the discipline to train for it over the next 10 months, with OG most likely as the goal.
. I would be surprised if KKK/TBH could feel nervous. They have played so many top tournaments for so many years. If they are still feeling nervous at tournaments, it could be a BIG problem for them. .
No, more like they have to prove to everyone (and themselves) that they made the right decision to switch from Rexy to Pang just only 1-2 weeks prior. .... And yah, Fu and Cai were totally uninspiring in the finals. Home game pressure perhaps.
2011 Japan Open SS: Good draw for Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong . 2011 Japan Open SS Looking at the draw, this time KKK/TBH could have a 'good' chance of making it to the Semi-Finals. http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=94C74A61-90D9-4DDA-AA73-934C55FD6196&draw=6 Hope that they won't waste this excellent chance of earning valuable Olympic Games ranking points. .
Let's don't put too much expectation on this pair. SHall they clear the 1st round? We shall see...They always lose to japan pair.
Are they doing better now? after china masters, i would totally say no.. Maybe they can changed my answer after the japan open. ANyway, let's see.
They manage to beat the young japanese pair. 2011 Japan Open SS: Semi-Finals (The KKK/TBH-vs-CY/FHF match) . I don't think so...... Therefore, I have PAWed for CY/FHF. .
. Tan Kim Her will have homework to help KKK/TBH. Just minutes ago, at the 2011 Japan Open SS Semi-Finals, KKK/TBH lost to CY/FHF again; Game 1 CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 11-07 (Interval at the 5th minute) CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 21-17 (Game over at the 16th minute) Smash Winners CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 13-08 Game 2 CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 10-11 (Interval at the 30th minute) CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 19-21 (Game over at the 42nd minute) Smash Winners CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 09-10 (KKK/TBH are BACK) Game 3 CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 11-09 (Interval at the 52nd minute) CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 21-19 (Match over at the 64th minute) Smash Winners CY/FHF-KKK/TBH: 12-08 KKK/TBH will need to be more aggressive/attacking in future (which was Rexy's plan/approach, in the first place). .
KKK/TBH have improved under PCC, the new coach. Though they lost CY/FHF 17-21, 21-19, 19-21, in the SF of the 2011 YJO, the score is respectable and it took the Chinese 64 minutes to subdue the Malaysians.
Pang Cheh Chang wasn't even in Japan, in fact it was Tey Seu Bock in the coaches' chair They did step up their game quite a bit, I was quite impressed with their fighting display although it is a pity that they lost out so closely. THIS IS THE KIND OF KKK/TBH we want where there is no shame in losing with a fight, not like what we saw in WC2011
