Yes, Saina got the bronze and there is no way one should say she did not win it.
For WX, I think the time lost for recovery made it for her, as she was not so young. But looking at who came after her, only LXR strikes as better then her.

It seems the last thread on Saina Nehwal was closed rather abruptly.
But we must have a thread on her before the her before Malaysian Open SSP.
So in case it is not possible to re-open the last one, I would like this to be the new thread. Otherwise just merge this with the last.

    side-note :
I understand it was getting ugly.
However, I request the mods and admins to give a couple of warnings before closing threads.
And I also wish they remain impartial.

It seems Star Sports 2 will be the channel to broadcast it in India.

Absolutely not, you have trivialized every win by an Indian badminton player over the last few years. Most recent being SK's victory over LD, Saina's win in China SSP and now the Indian open victories and Saina's ranking.

You obviously are not who you claim in terms of being an unbiased world citizen. And being an Indian, my natural reaction is that you have some colonial hangover and an elitist attitude. Sorry to bust your bubble but the world has changed and we all are truly equal citizens, unlike the pretense you like to project.

this is an incredibly enlightening comment in bold. This implies a strong inferiority complex. All that needs to be said is Saina will need to win more tournaments. Which I am sure you will be happy with.

And if you think Saina is getting the short thrift, just look over the hundreds of Lin Dan versus Lee Chong Wei versus Taufik Hidyat posts.

She just now lost to an USA player in the first round itself.

Just so that you are more informed, she was a talented player in China, who moved to Singapore sports school as a teenager and played for singapore on the professional circuit. She is now registered under USA but cannot play for them in team events. AFAIK, she is not a citizen of the USA.

Given that history, Arjevo put it better using her name rather than the country that helps register her name for competition.

Thanks for your information. Singapore player? She should have stayed in singapore itself instead of going to USA.. No offense to any country. Just said my opinion. If she is such a world class player. Wow.. Unbelievable victory. Everybody here carried away already that TTY will reach semis. Who would have thought Beiwen Zhang from USA will beat her. I wanna watch this wonder girl's matches in future .

yeah zhang is a class player, as good as anybody in terms of skill. .if i remember correctly, she took saina to three tough games last year in all england open first or second round, i don't remember exactly what round. but if you will watch her play you will be mesmerised by her racket skills and court movement.

Two sides of the same coin I would say. Either one is being elitist, or the other has a complex. But I saw a pattern in his contempt for Indian achievement, hence my analysis is that he is elitist. Apparantly my observation was enough for you to judge that I have a complex. Maybe so, I mean 70 years after WW2, China still feels insecurity wrt Japan.

We cannot avoid the scars of history. All we can do is try to respect each other and be civil. But when one person repeatedly tries to trivialize the achievements of people who have achieved a zillion times more than himself, it reeks of elitism.

i request all my fellow Indian posters of this forum to not post anything which might become the reason of closing saina's thread once again, i don't wan't that. .try not to get in disputes with other posters, you just can't change someone's way of thinking if you wan't to put it that way so just leave and move on. .don't get in silly arguments with anyone, please.

It's Zhang Beiwen, nomad player. ;) We had a discussion about her in another thread. People have any different personal reasons for moving. Life of a first generation immigrant cannot all be roses. it works for some but not for her.

Yes. She is a class player.

Sorry. I am not used to pronouncing players' names. This is the first time registering in a forum.
