Question Football (Soccer) : Your Favourite National Team

I was 'overjoyed' by England's magnificent performance in Turkey earlier this morning and I was wondering about others as well.

1. What national team do you support apart from that of your own country? Name the one team that you support the most.

2. Why do you support that country's national team?

3. What team do you will never find yourself supporting?

My Answers
---------------

1. England.

2. I have been watching the English league ever since I was 8 years old, supporting Liverpool and somehow, I guess, for many people out there as well, ended up supporting the national team. I have been behind them ever since Italia 98 all the way until yesterday when they went on to qualify for Euro 2004 in Portugal.

3. Strange enough, Brazil. Don't ask me why but I think it had a lot to do with the fact that for Latin American teams, I'd always go for Argentina and the two teams are eternal rivals on football.

What's yours?

1 & 2) When I was a kid, I used to be a huge fan of the Brazilian team. I thought the colour of their jersey was the most catchy (remember, I was just a kid then). Furthermore, their skill and technique on the ball was legendary, and simply amazing to watch.

As I grew older, I became increasingly fond of all (well, most) things that are British, and I started liking the English team. Like many other English fans, my heart was shattered into pieces both in 98 and 02 when they were kicked out...

3) Over the last few years, my support for the Brazilian team has waned dramatically. It seems to me that their unique and distinctive style of South American football techniques have become more generic, and while the players are certainly still very skillful, the wow factor has weakened quite a bit. And then in the 02 World Cup, I was simply disgusted by the Brazilian team's performance. It seems to me that they fake the injuries way more than any other team, and Rivaldo getting hit in the thigh and pretending he was struck in the face was too much. Until they clean up their act, you can count on me to withhold my support for them.
