Kelly Morgan has been exceptional within europe, beating the English number 1's consistently for years. When she beat Ye Zhaoying it was towards the end for Ye and she was more beatable, also Ye's style suited Morgan more than that of the other Asian women who are generally more fast / runner types. Still Morgan has raised the standard of Britain and after injury is back near her best again.

I thought Kelly will be one of the few Westerners, like Camilla Martin, who will be able to match the Chinese. She showed so much promise in her earlier years but I must confess I was disappointed by her recent performance and wonder whether she will really reach her full potential in the near future. She seemed to have lost her desire to be the best!

Well, she isn't getting any younger... perhaps the body isn't as willing as the mind. Beside Ms. Martin, this is the first time I heard of Morgan as one of few Western players who made an impression on the international stage.

Maybe we're luckier in Southeast Asia as we have seen her in action a number of times, more recently during the Thai Open in January, where she could not even beat Tracey Halam, who must be much older than Kelly.

Hallam and Morgan are only 2 months apart in age. Morgan recently beat Hallam at the euro team event.

Hallam did win in Thailand when she was on good form biut before that Morgan won the previous 5 encounters, making it 6-2 overall. Against Julia Mann , Morgan has won three meetings in international events, plus I expect several domestic ties.

As I said I believe Morgan had injury problems for a couple of seasons, and her wins against Ye Zhaoying whilst great were not when Ye was at her best.

If I've read the tables correctly Morgan may meet Camilla in the next round of the European Championships. That should be a good contest.

Thanks dlp for the info. Pls don't tell Hallam that she looks much older. I was at the Thai Open and despite Morgan's initial dominance, she could not capitalize and lost in the end. I like the way Morgan played and hope she will recover her zest for success.
