Off the top of my head,

MD Finals - 2000 Olympics
MD Finals - 2001 AE
MD Sudirman 2003 - Denmark vs Korea

If you want to watch and learn, best is to get the women events as the pace of the game is slower and you can see the footwork and strokes easier.

I agree, MD Finals - 2001 AE is definetely a good pick!! Both sides had great rallies and both sides had wonderful moves. It's one of my favorites!

I burned it to VCDs and kept on watching it on TV.....very nice while eating dinner.

i'm not ordering, i ask this guy who lives near IKEA to bring videos that i'd like to buy, and he comes to ur house and gives them to u. approximately $16, but its the cheapest that i can get here.

if u want the videos, his fone # is 515-7684. his name is Jim Tsang and he sells high quality rackets, grips, badminton bags, and any accesories. yonex, gosen, u name it. he is also a stringer... however, he's moving this october to toronto, so i'm stocking up videos, grips, etc b4 he leaves.. thats why i posted this thread, so i can get the best videos possible since it's probably the last time i'll get to see videos,... if anyone knows someone else who lives in vancouver who sells badminton equipment, PLZ notify me... i need a new stringer...

btw i have -TC 2002,
-WC 1999, 2001, 2003,
-SC 2003

btw, i can only watch the finals, since there are no quarters or semis included, onlythe finals...so u guys will have to recommend me the finals ONLY....

well, keep the comments going, plz!

how bout videos with good men singles?? i think i have some good ideas for doubles videos, now singles?

Jim is pretty well known locally as he travels to most badminton places in the GVRD to hawk his wares and services

Default Favorite Games

Hi all,

I am a new member to BC, as of yesterday. I was wondering something along this line of which video to buy, and thought I'd put this question to the group:

Which game do you think was the best/most exciting of games you saw?

That is which was the best men's singles/women's singles, doubles of all kinds.

Myself, I really think that the 2003 WC men's singles match between WONG Choong Hann from Malaysia vs. XIA Xuanze from China was amazing. Some of the rally's left me really on the edge, some of the shots the players managed to return where it looked like a winner from the other side...just amazing.

I liked other's as well, Peter Gade vs Lin Dan, 2004, AE MS Final also was good, but the one above was by far the best.

Men's Doubles I liked the 2001 AE Md Final Candra-Sigit Vs Tony-Halim Game 3. Some of the rallies, especially at around 9:25 minutes into the game were amazing. There was behind the back returns, between the leg returns, some returns picked just off the floor. I am still downloading game 1 and 2 from this match, but game 3 was more than exciting enough.

I have both these videos on my hard drive, and they are available via emule, which is running most of the time. I am still watching/downloading some women's singles/doubles, and some mixed doubles games, so have no input on those as of yet.

Has anyone else seen these so far, and agree with me, or have they seen something else and want to contribute their opinion?

Cory

Cory
No change in the opinion of my recommendation 3 posts up for generally exellent matches.

Truly the best men's singles match? Has to be the 1991 All England men's singles final. It was just 'magic'
Women's singles - the best? Have not seen so many but of the ones I've seen, World Champs final 1999 (Camilla vs Dai Yun) and Sudirman cup final 2001 (Camilla vs Gong ZC) are near the best. The very best performance I've seen from a ladies singles player is Zhang Ning in the 2003 World champs. Her level of play was just incredible.
Men's doubles 2002(?) AE s/f Candra/Sigit vs Kim/Ha plus that 2002 Thomas Cup match Neil mentioned.

For men's doubles inspiration, watch 2001 world Champs final Between Tony/Halim and Kim/Ha

Tony/Halim win the 1st set to love
The 2nd set swings enormously in the psychology. You can see Tony trying to control the game and even being a little frustrated at his partner. Watch the sequence of shots that Tony plays to try to work the rallies in the Indonesians' favour. Surely a match to watch again and again.
I didn't realise how good it was until watching it a few months apart.

(also ignore the english commentary after you've watched it more than once)
