i960 / PC-v80 / M-2012 { indecisive }

Black Knight hosted a tournament at my school, "A knight To Remember" and I won their grand prize, any badminton racquet worth a value up to $250. Now I need help deciding on which racquet to get, some help?

First off, I am girl but my coach insists I do not play like one. I have been told, I play like a guy, so keep that in mind. I do not play defense, I am an offensive player . Currently, I own a Yonex Carbonex ... a bit light for my game but it hasn't been that bad in play. (My second racquet now).

These are the three I have narrowed it too.

i1960 Turboflex XL retail 199.99CAD
Total Length : 68 cm
Rigidity Index : 86
Avg. Frame Weight : 85 g
String Area : 348 cm2

PC-V80 retail; 189.99CAD
Total Length : 68 cm

Any recommendations? Comments?

Never heard of those racquets...lol...

Why don't you try asking them if they allow you to demo the racquets and choose the one that feels right to you

how about black knight photon? the newest super light racquet from BK. it weighs only 75g.

What school are you from? Was it a tournament only for yoru school or open tournament?

frankcent: Yeah I have played a few games with the Photon and it was pretty awesome but it doesn't happen to be on the list given to me. And plus, I want more weight, the Carbonex is really light, and yeah, I want a heavier feel.

valkyier: Yeah the whole point of the event was a BK promotional event. But my memory is crap and I dont rmb which is which. I didn't expect to win...

charzord: I attend W.C.I, in Toronto, ON -- its not really a tournament, its a charity promotional event hosted by Black Knight.

I would take M2012 or i1960....

Have you got a chance to try both racquets? Chances are you'll know better than we do

I have only tried the M-2012 out of that list, albeit it was a long time ago, but I distinctly remember that it was quite head-heavy...I suppose youre using something like Cab 8200 light(some name like that) right? No doubt both racquets give radically different feeelings but since you say you want a heavier feel, perhaps it is worth a try...but I agree with the others, try them if you can!

Bah if worst comes to worst and you hate the racquet, just sell it and buy another one

M-2012 is the one i got in mind right now but do you think that might be too head heavy? I have heard the v80 is great but I don't hear much hype about it...

any recommendations?

M-2012 is very very head heavy and very flexible IMHO. If it was me I woudl choose between M-2012 and i960.

The i960 is very stiff and evenly balanced. I had the racket for about 6 months and just could not handle it. Don't know about the V80 but my son has just bought the V60. It is maybe slightly more head heavy and not as stiff as the 960. I understand that the V80 is slightly stiffer than the V60. The 960 is the stiffest BK racket I have ever used (I have had 6 of them).

Hi, I've had experience with two of the racquets listed as I've owned the i960 and recently sold the 2012 last Wednesday to make way for Nanospeeds.

i960: 68cm, oval and rather stiff. It was an ok racquet, definitely something you had to get used to. It's probably not the racquet you want unless you have multiples of it. It takes 2-3 weeks to adjust and if you were to break a string and that was the only racquet you had left, then you're going to have lots of issues trying to adjust from a 67cm to a 68cm racquet, given that your normal racquet is 67cm.

2012: This to me, was a fairly good racquet. It's head heavy and rather powerful. Since it's based on the power channel concept, it has a HUGE sweet spot so, getting a good smash was not difficult, at all.

It's rather durable. I've strung it as high as 26/28 once.

PC Series: I've only tried them a few times. From my experience as Black Knight is a really popular brand in Ottawa since one of the main coaches strongly suggests it... they break a lot. All my friends who has had a PC broke so, the durability stereotype that BK has does not apply to this series.

I'd go with the 2012... If you don't really like head heavy racquets than, PC.

The i960 would be my LAST choice.

So i see there is a preference to the M-2012....head heavy eh? I'm 16 and a fairly new player, first year competitively. However, I think i have power though since I play tennis reguarly, and so weight hasn't been an issue, as i can adjust between the two games.

If there is more preference to the m-2012, i think that's going to be my choice.
