Somehow, I feel that many of the top players are not "on form" for this tournament. |

After her good showing against hot favourite Wang Yihan in the QF, Jiang Yanjiao squandered her chance to defeat XXF in today's SF and lost 21-17, 10-21, 19-21 in 52 min. Despite her smaller size, Jiang made XXF work very hard for her victory.

Better known for their XD prowess, unseeded Anthony Clark and Nathan Robertson were joined together not too long ago when Nathan's petite XD partner Gail Emms (?) retired and England was also without a reliable and more consistent MD team.
You either like or hate this new English pair for they never cease to excite and surprise with their court antics and arguments with the officials on disputed line calls, etc. Especially the younger Robertson, who looks rather more handsome without his goatee and head band and who never hesitates to throw his racket in desparation or causes undue delay like purposely wetting the floor with his soaked body when he is forced to dive for a shot. Whatever, they can certainly brighten up some dull moments. ![]() Now their prowess seems to have shifted from XD to MD as this SO has witnessed. Malaysia's KKK/TBH (3) fell victim to them in R2 (21-13, 19-21, 14-21), so did China's Guo Zhendong/Xu in QF (17-21, 18-21). And in today's SF, Taiwan's pair of Chen Hung Lin/Lin Yu Lang, who shocked Denmark's Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen (2) in yesterday's QF, also succumbed in similar straight games of 21-19. Will Clark and Robertson be as lucky tomorrow when they meet Indonesia's No.1 seed, Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan to determine who will be the champion? ![]() |

Hi guys, as promised some of the photos from today's games. Hope you guys like them. Quick and dirty with hardly any adjustments to the picts.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I believe a BC favourite ? Frier ![]() ![]() ![]() I think we have a new addition to the 'postergirl' line-up. Very charming smile ( missed it by a fraction of a second in this pict.... ) ![]() ![]() There are some 400+ more, just a few quick picks for the night... I think there are better ones in the whole lot taken... ![]() Last edited by Gladius : 06-13-2009 at 12:00 PM. |

Thanks!
Honestly though, the lighting there is actually quite good. The camera's exposure settings make the lighting look dimmer than it actually is. But to get the sharp action, the ISO and shutter speed had to be cranked way, way up. |

Hi Kwun,
Thanks. ![]() 5Dmkii , 70-200 f/2.8 IS L, AV Mode, f/2.8 - f/4, 1/400- 1/1600 shutter. Basically adjusted along the way to get what I thought looked good. But contrary to belief, the camera is very, very capable in Ai-Servo tracking. In fact a lot more reliable compared to the 40D which I previously had and previously shot at last year's competition. The OOF rate is really wayyyy less compared using the same lens. The only real issue I had was the relative shutter lag of this camera compared to the 40D, a lot of shots relied on intrinsic timing rather than quick response to nail them. As a result, many shots were lost due to the lag ... But still... very happy with the overall results, despite it being 'not a sports camera' .... ![]() |

THey were put there in anticipation of viewers seating there. That's the corporate sponsors' box. It was about 1/3 empty.
