how many rackets?

how many rackets should a player have or use?
currently I have 4 rackets:

1)proace titanium dream

2)proace titanium magic

3)prokennex titanium pro

4)prince triple threat rip

I'm thinking of getting another racket......maybe proace titanium titanium 10 or ashaway muscle power 130sp.What's your opinion?Should a player stick with 1 racket or try out several different rackets?

how many racquets one has probably has a lot to do with your wallet size and sometime it's hard to try out a racquet unless you go out and buy it.

I've visited those 3 sites that u posted regularly. I've also noticed that they do have some good ProKennex racket for the price range around $40 - $70. However, I prefer some relatively "high end" ones - ex: Ti, Kelvar, Kinetic ULX, etc. I've been told by someone that Kinetic ULX been discontinued (but 1 other ppl on this Forum just got 1 in Malaysia, ><)

The uk site did have Ti for good price. Let me find out whether they want to do business oversea. If yeah, guess I will start to save some $$$. heehhehe...

i'm a big fan of prokennex too.......they have a few models here in malaysia-titanium,kinetic,carbon..........i have a titanium pro model myself and it's great!the racket cost me RM195.00 after discount!
maybe i can check out the models and the price and get back to you!

well it deosn't matter how many rackets does a player OWNs! but for me its better u test other rackets too..so that u can get to know which racket are good and which is not

what are u guyz fav. brand rackets uh?

my fav brands are proace and prokennex but i also use other brands like prince.i also like to use other brands like wilson and ashaway.
i don't like yonex!

Here is my inventory:

Yonex Boron 2
Carbonex 23
MP77
ProKennex Boronpro900

I use my Prokennex for swing practice at home because it is very stiff. The Boron 2, Carbonex 23, and MP77 are very much alike as far as the playing is concerned.

Here is a difference that I notice among the three racquets. Do the following experiment:

Use one hand to firmly press the handle of the racquet down on a table so that the racquet head hangs over the edge of the table and is free to bounce up and down.

Now apply a downward push at the tip of the racquet and let go crisply so the the racquet vibrates up and down. It looks like a tuning fork.

Pay close attention to the way the racquet vibrate. The MP77 vibrate very harmonically up and down and does not vibrate let and right at all, where as the Carbonex 23 would vibrate up and down and left and right.

The Boron2 does have a left and right wabble but much less than the carbonex 23.

During play time the MP77 does have a cleaner, more power smash and the you can feel the power transfer from your arm to the shuttle (the snappy feeling at the moment of contact).

I would like to mention that my boron 2 has been strung for more than 12 years and it still plays like the MP77 with well rounded performance on smash drop and clear. The snappy feeling is definely there.

When I play, I usually rotate between all three of my racquets so I can recognize and remember how each one feels to me.

Quite an interesting way to test out a racket! I hope nobody over do it when they conduct this test - imagine snapping a MP90 on your coffee table!

Of course not!

In my engineering student days, I learned frequency coupling. The reason why the racquet is vibrating up and down and left and right is because it is constantly switching between the up and down mode of vibration to the left and right mode of vibration. That make sense because the the mode of vibration is orthogonal to each other.

What does this mean? It means that when the racquet is on impact some of the energy is spent to vibrate the racquet from side to side. This would affect the power transfer to and the control of the shuttle.

Such is my experience with the carbonex 23 and the MP77.

I found that with my boron2 my I have more control with my smash in terms of direction.

I also think that the mode of vibration has to do with the tension of the string as well, but I don't know whether it is a large or small effect.

that's is a really interesting way of testing out your racquet's flex, but I am afraid to just bend the racquet head at the tip nevermind holding it on a table like that.
