Default Are yonex CN racquets heavier?

There was another discussion about the max stringing tension on JP and SP racquets.

CN racquets do not come with an official recommended max stringing tension.

Are yonex CN racquets actually any heavier than JP, SP, CD etc counterparts?

Objective data please!

Chung, unless someone jus happened to hav a brand-new, unstrung CN/CP racket and the exact racket (unstrung/brand new)of a different version, it's almost impossible to compare the two since string and overgrip also add weight to the racket

What's wrong with taking all the strings out and taking all the grips off and then measuring the weight?

how about someone with 3 broken rackets of the same model, some CN and some not, and then take off all the strings and grip, etc. and weight them?

i will do that, but i don't have a good and accurate scale.

i will do that, but i don't have a good balance.
I suppose that will also work... but then again a few grams is (to me) a very minute amount of weight.

who knows if a few peices went flying across the court when you broke your racket or not?

Also, please make suer they have same specs (3UG5 etc) and are of the same model

sorry to be so picky

but I am VERY interested for the result

well broken rackets might have missing shards and other pieces here and there possibly. Then again, do people out there really have the same model racquets available from all those distribution location? amazed.

It's quite normal jwu, I myself have 3 functional Yonex rackets

MP100 is TW version
Ti-10 is SP version
MP55 is CD version

Jchen99, what I meant was 3 racquets of the same model such as someone having:

mp100 TW
mp100 SP
mp100 CN something like that.

If we use your racquets to compare, they are all different distribution and also different models and it would hard to make the comparison.

We don't need to have one person to have all three racquets though that would be nice because that would eliminate variation from using different scales.

Say JChen99 got MP55 CD, and I got MP55 SP, we could compare by swopping the info over the net. We need a bigger sample size i.e. 10 MP55 CD vs 10 MP55 SP.

I have an MP100CP and an MP100JP.
If anyone is willing to sponsor me some money for new strings and grips and also a digital weighing scale, I'll gladly cut the strings on both rackets, remove the grips and weigh them.

I accept cash, money order, telegraphic transfer or Paypal.

Mongoose,

play until your strings break and you need to change the grip. That way nobody has to send any money

Allow me to put down the first one:

It's ISO Tour 800, CN, 2U, G3 and the weight is 91.11 +/- 0.02 gram. Of course, no string and down to the original grip. As we all know the official weight of 2U is between 90-94g, mine seems to fall on the lighter side of it. Although my racquet has several paint chips, I doubt it makes much difference.

Can't wait to see more result from others. Maybe we can publish a report somewhere if we can collect statistically significant number of samples.
