Question Difference between MP88 and MP99

Hello,

I want to buy one of the rackets, MP88 or MP99.
Can anybody give me some advise? On the Yonex site there isn'ty any info about the MP99.

I would like to know the main differences. I am looking for a head-heavy racket, medium flex. I now have the Ti7, but i do not like it. I have tried the MP88 and i like it.

Thanks for your advise!
Mark.

If u happen to really like the feeling of MP88, since u've already tried it, I guess that will be ur racket then.

Not sure whether u can get a "demo" racket from ur store to try it out or not. If u have such a chance, just try both racket by urself, and make a decision.

Whatever other ppl say, that's their own preference, but not urs.

Yeah, buying a racquet is a tough decision, I think the only way to choose wisely is to try the racquets first. Here, in Montréal, I don't know any store that allows you to do that. Consider yourself lucky if you know someone who owns the racquet that you are thinking about buying and is willing to let you really try them. But even then a racquet's string and string tension is so crucial that it can mean the difference between a really nice racquet and a piece of crap. So if you do get to demo racquets, it would be nice if they were all strung with the same string and tension.

Hey Mark, I agree w/ lazybuddy that since you've tried the mp88 and like it, then you should go with it. However, see if you can try and get ahold of the mp99 and demo that yourself to form your own opinion. Just give you a quick comparison right now:

mp88 mp99

weight: 3u(89g) 4u(84g) 2u(94g) 3u(89g)
Stiffness: stiff extra stiff

Both racquets have thinner frame and shaft, I think that's Yonex's new design, to make it less air-resistant perhaps. It also makes them more fragile. mp99 also has Ti-mesh where mp88 doesn't. IMHO, mp99 has more power but mp88 has more control and the lack of power can be a problem for singles. Hope this helps, you can find a lot of other reviews on these two racquets on the site, they are talked about a lot. Good luck.
