OK, here goes the first review of the MP-99
Racket: MP-99 (3UG5)
Country Code: TW
Date: June, 2003
Strings: BG-85 @24x25
Strings Machine used: Babolat (huge!!)
Overgrip: Yonex supergrap(black)
Overall, I think it is a very stable racket. Also, it is suitable for all levels of play and all types of game. However, I use this rackets mainly for doubles and I have found that it can team up with most of my partners racket well!
You can use this racket for both offense and defense without any problem since it has both power(not the greatest) and control (not the best.)
The paint work is very shiny and it looks very elegant. It doesn't chip easily (at least not mine) and it seems like a somewhat strong material.
However, it took me more than 1.5 months to get used to this racket. So, if you have one or planning to get one, don't be frustrated if you can't get things right! Give it more time and you will find the good things about the MP-99!
PS: The one I got is in 3U version because I think it's easier for defense use due to its lighter weight than 2U. However, I don't think there is a loss in the power, and it's more like a personal preference thing.

When first trying it out, it didn't really appeal to me, probably because I wasn't used to it at the time. I've had this racket for about 2-3 months now and I have no regrets about buying it. The power is pretty good and combined with the supurb control of the racket, it's hard to beat if you're one who likes those characteristics. Flexibility is stiff

I purchased this racquet last week and tried it out over the weekend. At first, it was hard to control. Neither smashing nor drop shot were working the way I wanted. However, after playing a few hours, I started getting used to the racquet. I got enormous power at the baseline and excellent control while close to the net.
Even tough this racquet is a bit pricey, but I highly recommend it.

Racket: MP-99 (3UG4)
Country Code: CD
Date: Feb, 2004
Strings: BG-65 @22
Overgrip: Yonex supergrap(black)
i bought it a few weeks ago (a MP99 3UG4). I had a MP55 and a C8200LT. From 55 to 99 WOAHHHH! To much difference, the first time i played with it i were unable to play well, it seems that the power of the mp99 were alot weaker than my 55 but the control was outstanding. Few weeks later, i found that if i had the good/or right technique with alot of time, the mp99 was a beast in power and control. This racquet is definitly a racquet for advanced player. But if you are a average player, i would recommand it to you if you want to train more and play better, if you are only playing for fun, you'll maybe have trouble playing with it. For this price, it a reasonable racquet IMO.
Racquet i've used before: 8200LT, MP55, AT500, AT700,

Could someone compare this to the MP100?
I've been told by a few people it's basically the same, and others say the MP100 is more powerful, while the MP99 is more control...
I have a great deal for this racquet right now, and I can't decide between it and the MP100...
Unfortunately, i have not had the chance to test...
I'm basically an all around player. My specialty is dropping, but smashing's probably the most dominating part of my game.
Please give me a recommendation!

Pros:

stable, solid feel, good control

Cons:

stable hitting, good net control.
If hit not correctly, shuttle will not fly far.
explosive powerful smash when hit correctly.
good blocking defence and accurate push and drive.
precise drop shot.
AS compared with MP100, it is better overall racket. maybe mp100 is more powerful , but it needs a very strong arm and wrist since it is very stiff.
my personal opinion, when u hit good technique , mp99 is perfect, when u play lousily, mp99 will also play bad. It helps to better ur accuracy shots

I have gotten this racquet for 2 weeks and used it 3 times. It is a 3U strung with BG68Ti @ 24lbs. My previous racquet is a Black Knight @ 26lbs. The one before that is a shitty Yonex Isometric 63 Light.
So far, this is the best racquet I have used ever....and the most expensive I have paid so far too :-( I've been playing on an off for 15 years and have gone through quite a few intermediate racquets.
Right off the bat, I felt very comfortable with it. I can feel it smashes so much better, net play is so much faster too (when I play doubles, I'll try to whack the shuttle if it's a net serve) and I made less mistakes than ever. Clearing is effortless, drop shots are great. This racquet gives a lot of power into smashes too but it's also very light at the net. Generally a very balanced and even racquet.
Playing is so much more fun with this racquet. I can feel that my game has improved tremendously in just 3 times because of this racquet. It made me move faster and save a lot more shots now.
Overall I'm really happy with this racquet and I bought it because others in this forum thought it is a great racquet and I can concur with them that it is true. I've finally found a racquet that I really like after all these years of playing and I bet I will be buying at least one more of this racquet in the future.
