Review:<br><br>
Edited from "looking for badminton shoes in HK? Try Mizuno" thread in badmintoncentral forum.
<br>
<br>
<br>
Designed as a badminton shoe the model name is "Mastercross LB-R" (that's what the box says, the shoe doesn;t even have a model name on it).
<br>
The distinguishing feature is the Mizuno logo(blue colour) on the midpart of the shoe both sides with the material underneath the logo being a cloth mesh.
<br>
My impression is that it is an excellent shoe. I have quite wide feet and have felt a bit unstable when using other shoes! But not with this Mizuno.
<br>
There is also enough padding so my heels don't need extra shock absorber pads (used to get very sore heels in the past)
<br>
<br>
The price is comparable with some of the Yonex range at about HK$300.
<br>
<br>
I recommend actually trying to fit the shoe in the shop rather than getting somebody to buy the shoe for you. My Yonex Shoe is size 26.0(Japan), 7(UK), 8 (US) but this Mizuno size is 26.5 (Japan) for me.
<br>
Just as a reference, for ordinary shoes, I take UK size 8 instead of 7 because of my wide feet.
<br>
<br>
I bought from the "Luxis Sport Net" shop in Hong Kong.
<br>
Address: 1st floor, 41 Parkes Street, Jordan, Hong Kong.
<br>
To get there, go to "Jordan" MTR station.
<br>
Walk out of exit "C2" and you will be immediately on a cross roads junction.
<br>
Walk straight ahead(along Bowring St) to the next junction which is the Bowring St and Parkes St junction.
<br>
Look to the 2 o'clock position and you can see the blue sign. Steps lead up to the 1st floor (2nd floor if u come from North America)
<br>

After two months of use, these shoes are still going strong even with the material stretching a little. I play 3/4times a week, singles and doubles. The shoes still feel comfortable, still grip the floor, still feel light and yet stable. A bit worn but much better condition than I expected after the heavy pounding they've been through. Overall these are the best badminton shoes I have worn by a comfortable margin.
<br>
Many people are using these shoes in HK and I do not believe it is because of a "fashion" trend.
<br>
<br>
Summary: Not to try out a pair will be your own loss.

I've a pair of LBR as well. The only complaint I've is poor cushioning. Besides the LBR, I've a pair of Mizuo Wave Smash Ti as well. These shoes have equipped with Mizuno's Wave technology and I found that the cushioning is just excellent (for this particular model, there are Titanium fibres inside the shoes).
<br>
<br>
While the Wave Smash Ti does provide better protection for my shoes, there are a number of drawbacks :
<br>
(1) It is terribly expensive and very difficult to find outside Japan.
<br>
(2) It is heavier than LBR (the LBR is very light, as a result, gives the best speed in movement).

I've had these same Mizuno shoes for nearly five months. Considering I play at least two, mostly three and sometimes four times a week, the shoes are holding up well. I have had some other shoes which start falling apart after three months.
<br>
<br>
I estimate the shoes will last another month or so. I have another spare pair ready for use.
<br>
<br>
Unlike Ricky, I don't have a problem with poor cushioning (but it has been a problem with other shoes). I haven't suffered any bruising on my feet/bones. Would advise wearing two pairs of socks if this happens.
<br>
<br>
The price of the shoes has gone down as well.

Recently I weared more the LBR instead of the Wave Smash Ti. As I said before, LBR can give faster movement because its ultra-light weight. Secondly, it is a very comfortable shoes as well.
<br>
<br>
Cushioning may be not a big problem - unless you do a lot of jump smash, you will definitely find a shoes with strong cushioning is much better to your feet. In fact, I've a feel that my jump smash is a bit harder when I wear the Wave Smash Ti - even though the vendor said that the shoes is designed for smash, I really can't figure out the reason behind (actually I still doubt whether it has such a "function").
