Well, I think is better that I open a new threat for this...;)

Cat & Kitten are thinking to go (very tempted as Sabah is famous with her beautiful islands), but haven't decide yet. Who else wanna join? The more the merrier......and we'll try to persuade Abang Din to become the coordinator again, haha...!:D

So far, Uncle Loh & Samuel did ask, Abang Din, Pj, spchu, ronnie14 show interest...how about the rest?

We can discuss transportation & accommodation here. Hope there are Sabahan out there to help, hehe! :p

I'm 100% going. This is the best of all BWF tournaments and it's only 3 days duration.I'm just wondering.Should i fly MAS or AirAsia, the airline that gives one lots of time to appreciate the airport when one should already be in the air?
And luyi, i know you're all excited, just calmly start a new thread, don't scare anyone with a new threat.I don't remember any of your threats. How about start a list now?

Wow, it has been 5 years since I last visited Kota Kinabalu.

December 18-21 looks okay to me. Hmm, I might go and conquer Mt Kinabalu again. Hehe...

Not going to happen, I will go, but I am not coordinating, thank you very much ......

Last time I did coordination, had to wait for someone who only arrived at 3 am :p, and had to do multiple long distance ferrying of "Technical Delegates" from Century Park to The Sultan.

If you guys are not familiar with KK, I would suggest stay within the Api-Api District, lots of reasonable hotels, and more importantly, even more variety of food ......

Most like the venue will be Likas Indoor Stadium again. Around 5-10 minutes from City Centre.

If that's the case, closest Hotel would be the Likas Square Condo Hotel, within the Likas Square Commercial Complex. However it is more suited for families or groups of up to 6 since you have to take a whole apartment (3 rooms).

So if any of you are willing to take up coordinator work, this might be worth looking. Otherwise there are cheaper options at Api-Api ......

How many stars is the likas Condo hotel? I don't mind sharing.
Is the Stadium far away from Sutera Harbour Resort or are they on opposite sides of the city centre?
I really like KK.The air is relatively unpolluted and the teh tarik even better than KL! The amazing thing is they have this new KL-style shopping mall called One Borneo in the middle of nowhere but clearly targetting tourists cos there are two hotels within the complex.
There is really not much to see but lots to observe. There are so many Filipinos working there,I realise KK is so near to the Phillipines.Lots of KFC.It's like anytime I think of KFC as a source of protein, there'll be one around the corner. The seafood is excellent(and so affordable)and I'm not even a seafood fan. However, most of the tourist activities will be some drive away.
I heard there's one terrific reflexology place where they do it so well the customer fall asleep within the hour. Gee, what a missed opportunity.

Likas is 3 to 4 stars probably. For similar types of accommodation, you'd be better off at Promenade Hotel's sister Resort Condominium at Marina Court. Cheaper and closer to good food and shopping ......

Likas is at opposite ends of Sutera Harbour Resort. Sutera is closer to Airport. Stayed there before and no doubt it is nice, but I don't fancy it because it's quite a distance from the town.

Of course One Borneo is in the middle of nowhere, it's beside the University at Penampang. Goodness knows if the huge thing will ever make enough profit ....

There are 4 flights from Kuching to KK daily on MAS, 2 flights from Air Asia. Air Asia flights are much cheaper but they are only available in the afternoon and night, no morning flights.

If you book now, prices should be around MYR 150 - 200 range, the night flight is cheaper.
