Did anybody watch the mens singles final?

That was an amazing spectacle. Very, very high quality match.

I thought penhold grip was dying out but both finalist were using it.

I caught the last game, and I agree it was brilliant, went right down to the wire. I also thought the scoring system worked well, it kept you interested all the way through.

great match! I've noticed that the Chinese although using penhold grip, have been using the back of the bat to hit/spin the ball regularly.

I am pissed right now!!! :D China loses both MS in badminton and now in table tennis. Overall, Wang Hao has better technique and bigger variety of useful shots but Rye Seung Min is known as a fighter. If he was able to control Wang's distinct powerful backhand drives (from a penholder that is amazing) and play smarter strategically than Wang then he definitely has the ability to win, and now he has done it.

This loss is definitely going to dissapoint the population!

However, China can only use this loss as a learning lesson -- in last year's World championships, Chinese MS players lost to Werner Schlager (Austria) and Joo Se Hyuk (Korea). After the loss, they begin analyzing their own weakness, that of their opponents, and how to conquer them. Since then, the top Chinese players have not lost to either opponent.

I agree with you that it sucks that china loses both mens singles, but as for table tennis, RYU just wanted it more and he went all out. He took all the chances and he earned the gold  . To me Wang Hao just looked flat, didn't even looked like he really got into the game till it was too late. I'm sure he would have won if it went to the 7th game, but he should have played better and took more chances, it shouldn't have been close...Still can't believe it wasn't Ma Lin or Wang Liqin in final :crying: ...this tournament just sucks for top seed men. Ma Lin what a dissappointment, strongest forehand loops, need more mental training...can't beat old fart J.O. :crying:

although this is badmintonforum, not tabletennisforum, is there any interest in sharing the olympic table tennis videos around? i've got a few of the matches on tape in between the badminton matches.

I've got a fair amount of TT vids, but most have been removed from my hard drive and burned onto CD-Rs as my HD is extremely small for today's standards!! Many of the Chinese bt sites/forums will have a sports section and tt vids are always around. The site that cwong posted ...www.kanqiu.com has all the Olympic tt matches involving China and there's also several Chinese sites dedicated to tt and has many videos. Only problem is getting connected to their servers is extremely hard as they have so many Chinese users daily.

Give me a shout if you want any of these URLs.
