No, it doesn't. It still depends on the draw.

Then why is the draw the same for both AE and SO?

if LD had won the 09 swiss open, u will see conspiracy theorists (pswift et al) coming out of the woodwork claiming LD had another easy ride to the final while LCW had to fight hard 3 sets against TH, and then another 3 sets with Jan J, while LD had easy 2 setters on all his pre-final encounters. It seem this tough road to the final didn't hurt lcw's chance at all, beating LD in 2 convincing sets. Selective bunch of conspiracy theorists wouldn't u say?

There will always be conspiracy theorists in every camp. The CHN camp thinks it's a conspiracy against CHN in the WD draw. Furthermore, let's be fair. If LD had won against LCW in SO final, many will come out and bemoan the facts as you predict above. But are they bemoaning the unfairness of the process of the draw? Sure, they could claim unfairness in terms of luck (cannot blame anyone except luck), but not in the process of the draw (conspiracy in BWF).

For the record, I disagree with all conspiracy theories regarding the fairness of the draw. I also think luck falls both ways. If you are unlucky, ... tough luck.

The 1st seed is put in the 1st quarter.
The 2nd seed is put in the 4th quarter.
The 3rd and 4th seeds are drawn to the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
Each of the 5th to 8th seeds is drawn to meet one of the top 4 seeds in the QF.

The unseededs (including the 4 slots for qualifiers) are drawn to the remaining slots.

i dont like seeing china vs china in early rounds, it make thing less interesting. However, since china team was off the circuit for the military training, i know the ranking and seeding would be out of whack.

Even if the rankings are out of whack ??? (must be a Canadian thing), they're (WD) still extremely unlucky though to get that kind of draw.
