I remember once (like 2 - 3 years ago) Hafiz was leading LHI 18:9 in the 1st game, but then LHI won 21:18. In fact LHI was also leading 7:0 or 6:0 in the 2nd game (therefore actually won 18-19 consecutive points from Hafiz) before winning like 21:9.

So indeed the Yo-yo power is strong. :D

Li/Shen just got thrashed by Mas uncles...

It definitely doesn't look like any young Chinese pair has reached the level of 2002/03's Cai/Fu.

Hafiz's match reminded me on how much I hate to see him play and how much I like to see him play. You just don't know which side of him you'll see. Two-face Hafiz.

Yup, lost my paw on that too. SHen Ye did quite well in the experimental partnership with either Fu or Cai. I thought China young MD couldnt do that bad to be trashed by 32/33 y.o. uncles.

Candra/Joko will probably be forced to the decider.

Shen Ye was paired up with He Hanbin before He was switched to concentrate on XD. Then, Shen has no real partner, always switched.

I'm also surprised that our prodigal daughter, unseeded Zhang Beiwen, secured a place in tomorrow's SF when she beat Lydia Cheah [8]
22-20, 21-9 in 30 min. Now the second game was a surprise. Could something be wrong with Lydia or she just lacked stamina?

But more surprising is the MD brothers pair of Hendri Kurniawan Saputra and Hendra Wijaya who advanced steadily to the SF by beating a string of Malaysian players:

    R1 - Mak Hee Chun/Tan Wee Kiong 21-15, 21-15 (27 min)
    R2 - Chan Chong Ming /Chew Choon Eng (2) 21-15, 21-19 (34 min)
    QF - Khoo Chung Chiat/Ong Soon Hock (7) 21-15, 20-22, 13-21 (42 min)

Will their luck hold in the SF tomorrow?

    Best of Luck Singapore! :):):)

I mean the current pair playing Candra/Joko. I am watching them play in TV now. Chen Zhiben and Tao Jiaming. Watch this pair. They're fast and powerful. Definitely in the mould of Fu/Cai.

Riyadi is a nervous wreck. Candra Wijaya deserves a better partner. Unless of course the purpose is to blood the youngster.

Joko Riyadi is probably the weak link in the partnership with Hendra A. Gunawan also  AG/Alvent are now doing pretty well.....

CHN has a few upcoming MD pairs like Chai Biao/Liu Xiaolong and this pair.

Let's wait and see. I am not surprised that a young Chinese pair can match Candra/Joko. Candra is like 50%-70% of his prime and Joko is never a top MD -- and will never be.

In fact, I expect China to produce a huge army of MDs right below the top level, since all Chinese players (not only MD) are fast and powerful, and have fabulous stamina. Speed + power + stamina is enough to beat most opponents. But the real problem for Chinese MD is how to produce MDs at the highest level. The embarrassment of Chinese MDs (practically all of them, not only Cai/Fu) when meeting MK/HS illustrates this -- they not only lost, they were totally dominated.

But they don't seem to have a problem with KOR and DEN pairs  Whereas, our resident KOR fan here insists that the KOR pair has DOMINATED INA pairs ;)

Chandra didnt continue his partnership with Luluk was it cos of Luluk's contract obligations? Chandra/Luluk did much better.

It has nothing to do with contract..mostly on chemistry issue.....if Candra/Joko does not do well here...we may see Rendra will partner with brother,Candra...lets wait and see as Rendra has no partner right now..

Ok....Candra Wijaya/Joko Riyadi eventually kill off the young CHN pair's challenge as they prevail in 3-sets: 21-17, 18-21, 21-17. They will face Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah tomorrow. A tough ordeal for them
