A bit off topic-2008 TC Semi was a good example..

..but MAS did have a pretty competitive Thomas Cup squad to contend with. Of course, the biggest disappointment was KKK & TBH losing in straight games to CY & FHF, which IMO, the former should've won. That was the key, IMO.

In this yr's Sudirman Cup, if MAS are to face CHN, MAS *must* *must* *must* win their MS and MD matches to have a chance. And hope their WS or WD will pull out a miracle.

    quite true..
but at the 1st place lcw need to win the 1st point too in order to keep the door to the victory alive then only followed by MD as MS will be played 1st

The chance of MAS defeating CHN at the 2009 Sudirman Cup is still possible

    .
winnie ... It is very true to say that, for the 2009 Sudirman Cup, LCW is required to win the MS. The best possible chance for MAS to defeat CHN is by winning the MD, MS and WS (in that order).

IMHO, the chance of MAS defeating CHN (at the 2009 Sudirman Cup) could come from:
    Mens Doubles ........ 60%
    Mens Singles ......... 50%
    Womens Singles .... 40%
    Womens Doubles ... 30%
    Mixed Doubles ....... 20%

So for MAS to defeat CHN, it would probably come from MD, MS and WS. But the chances don't really look that good.

A bit off topic-But what if..

..it was the MD event that's played first, instead of the MS??....aaahhh...
I think it's safe to say, winning the 1st pt is crucial; however, it doesn't or might not have to come from LCW/MS event.

Men Singles and Men Doubles.i guess these are our key matches.

and seriously, if i see kkk/tbh to be flushed down to the drain, i'd lost interest for the all next matches.
    couldn't resist.

you do have high expectation from the MAS MD. considering they are playing the olympics silver medalists in a not unsimilar condition, i.e with home support. my assessment of MAS chance to beat CHN will be:

    MS 40%
    MD 45%
    WS 10%
    WD 30%
    XD 0%

taking into the account of current form, preparations, playing as a team, CHN at home and MAS past records of playing under pressure

don't forget home support has pros & cons too , either it help ya' or break ya' .....likewise football when Liverpool are on song nobody can stop them scoring starting from the game against Real Madrid how many goals they scored so far ( i lost count :)) but unfortunately they were knock out by Chelsea in the 1'st leg at Anfield :D:D:D:D, so when you're not in the best of form & wrong tactic , it's hard to overcome the odds

    1. LCW at 10.
    2. LCW in 2000.
    3. LCW and WMC in 2008.
    4. LCW won Silver Medal at Beijing.

The video of LCW's training is very welcome.
I am very impressed by the attitude of LCW in training. His schedule is very tough and it takes a lot of discipline to be so regimented. Aerobics, pumping iron, crunches, sit-ups, push-ups,etc., and sparring against a few shuttlers all together are no picnics in the park. LCW really deserves his achievements and I wish him well.
