I am not an insider in this kind of things but I would think that one of the "perks" of being a tournament sponsor is the right to setup booth selling merchandise. I know from chatting with the badminton shops that Lining stuff will be available in Singapore and that conversation happened a few weeks ago. From a business perspective, this is a great time to launch their product. Most badminton enthusiast will be going for the event and you have a large captive audience.
Given their extraordinary (and I'd say, ridiculous) pricing, Li Ning is unlikely to make off with too many captives from Singapore And, of course, it won't be of much use to them if at least one of their mascots don't make it to the title
They are already getting exposure everywhere from this forum. Not many can afford it but sure helps in sales. I like the 'mascot' thingy. hehe lol... Any extra tickets for me anyone??? Only weekdays for me is good enuf.
Li-Ning will surely be selling their stuff at SIS. Afterall, i understand a certain racket dealer in Spore already has LN goods in the warehouse.

There's Lining booth at the indoor stadium. However the stuff there are very expensive. Racquets range from $99 - $329 and that's for the professional series. The ones that are used by the China national team cost more than $400 with the model used by Lin Dan costing $489 ! The shuttlecocks are really too expensive, it cost S$57 ! I think the shoes on the other hand is at least more acceptable, I saw one that goes for S$99 and it is very light. My Victor cost me S$90 and I wouldn't mind paying S$9 for the Lining.
I repeat my argument that this is just a overpriced China product pretending to be a global brand. They appear to believe that starting off with 'expensive' price-tags will earn them a spot alongside the dollar-brands like Nike, Reebok and Converse. Such pricing is unlikely to result in booming sales. But, perhaps, they don't want booming sales rightaway. With government-aided deep pockets, Li Ning can afford to do this. The question is: for how long?
