    Instead of playing 3 sets of 15 points. The IBF decided to change the rules to form 5 sets of 7 points. I hate these new rules and i hate the IBF for deciding to change them.....

    Maybe we should all sign a petition to the IBF voicing our thoughts??

    5x9 then?

    If you total up, 3x15 = 45 points max

    5x9 = 45 points max also.

    5x7 = 35 points max only!

    I think 5x7 really sucks but what to do....

    Sets or Games?

    Byro, you and several others have referred to a competition to 15 or 7 or 9 points as a "set" whereas I have usually heard it referred to as a "game." Are the two terms interchangeable in badminton, or is one term the preferred one?

    Maybe it just won't work and the IBF will reinstate the 3x15 system. Efforts to speed up play, make the game racier and more suitable for tv don't always work. Take the XFL for example (American "professional" football league set up this year by professional wrestling organizers to promote more violence, speed, and sex appeal [sleezy cheerleaders] than the NFL). It was designed to do all of the above things but just folded last week from near complete lack of interest by the public.

    OT: Jeff and cooler, are Canadians smart enough to avoid wasting time on the WWF and professional wrestling, or have large numbers of your countrymen succombed to the idiocy also? Modious and others, is professional wrestling popular in Singapore and Asia?

    I remember couple of years back, lots of ppl I know were absolutely crazy over WWF... Brett the Hitman Hart, Hulk Hogan et al... I (unfortunately) used to follow a bit of it too... that was when I was in Primary 2, eight years of age and absolutely stupid (okay, the stupid part still remains). It isn't so popular now, at least not with the people I see. I guess the script is getting more and more ridiculous. Plus all the wrestlers we "grew up with" have, I think, virtually disappeared. The last I heard of Hulk Hogan was that he was going into politics or sth along that line. That was a few years back as well. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Re: Sets or Games?

    I've always referred to a game as a game to 15 points, and a set as the 2 or 3 games played.

    Re: Sets or Games?

    reading through the "laws of badminton", the following seems to be the official terminology:

    15 points is a game.
    3 games is a match.
    adding points at 14-14 is a set

    Wrestling

    I can say that WWF was very popular in Singapore a few years back.
    But it seems to have died down alot. Judging from the number of my friends who watch it, it should be still quite popular.
    Ever since I knew it was fake, I've not watched it that often.

    I'm having jetlag in my own country. I sleep at 4 am and wake up at 12 noon. Sigh.

    Re: Wrestling

    I don't really watch wrestling as a sport. When i see it on tv i consider it more of a show. An act..... well, it is an act but i think its quite funny sometimes...... entertaining too
