Sure dumbells and heavy racquets are the most common ways..
but are there any other ways or other equipments you ppl use to train the wrists?
and in dumbells, typically how heavy are they?

Oh and since i live in new zealand, any good places to get the equipments?

I dont think so apart from those you mentioned. I train with a squash racket atm , which is about 170 grams. I do figure 8s, and basic up and down wrist movement if you get me, 3 sets of each. You shouldnt do too much of a big weight, because you can damage the tendons. Not only because of that but if you use too heavy a weight (like a tennis racket) you will make the wrist stiffer which you dont want.

I use dumbells for my whole arm, but that's cuz I also play tennis but my suggestion to you is to also try those squeeze things (totally forgot the name of it) it's like two bar that you squeeze together works wonders on your grip and thus your forearm.

POWER BALL. search it, i know some guys who swear by it, as for the things lord mentioned, i call mine wrist grippers. I use 4kg dumbells for forearm work, search for suicide grip (done correctly this kills), and reverse wrist curls for 2 really hard work outs.

called handgrips. Good for finger, hand and forearm strengthening. Dumbells are the most effective things for wrists and forearm strengthening.

    Construct your own equipment!

Get these things: a soft-drink bottle (the larger the capacity the better, min 1.5 litres), a wooden/plastic pole about 30cm long, nylon string about 1.2m long.

Fill the soft-drink bottle up fully with water. Drill a hole (large enough for the string to thread through) in the centre of the pole. Thread the string through and tie it up firmly. Tie the other end of the string to the neck of the bottle.

The two ends of this pole will form the handles of this equipment. With both full arms' stretch in front of you, hold the handles to move the bottle off the ground. Now, lift the bottle up by twisting the pole using your hands in any clockwise/counter-clockwise direction you prefer, always keeping the handles at level full arm's stretch in front of you.

Keep repeating until your arms get tired. Sooner or later, you'll get your wrists toned up for more wrist power. Increase the load or change the grip surfaces on the handles if necessary.

How heavy should the dumbells be?

Which excercises should I do with the dumbell's to gain the best outcomes?

what weight should you use...hmmmm...depends on your strength lol, what i think is the best is to hold it and curl it like you're starting a motorcycle and do that like 15 times slowly, then do the reverse motion, (often i like to do both hands so you don't have an over developed dominate arm)

but as for mass, i'm like 180 and i normally don't like to go over 40 lbs

as george said, squash or tennis racket. or you can get rsl trainer 160 (160gr) to play properly. theres some lighter version too i think starts from 120, 130 140 150.

been using powerball but have not really notice big improvement since.

theres an equipment that looks like bicep curl training kinda thing but smaller to train the wrist. never tried tho

A very old player I know , who is approximateley 60-70 , and is still playing! Taught me this , although I have never quite done it. Now you have reminded me , I think I should try this out.

Thankyou , I think this is kind of like the example stated by qinglong , but with weights. I will try this out and give it ago!

    Thanks!

the best, easiest and most comfortable way for your racketgripping is probably this:

I have done it a few weeks, and not even every day. And I felt a difference already.

I have 2 head only covers and i've been doing it for a few months now as i practice clears and smashes, I've never thought of doing it on the couch, or doing figure eights.

Guess what I'm doing now as i type with one hand :p
