my kingston8gb pendrive facing some problem now i have thousands of photo and few video inside and also some important document anyhow when i open it in laptop the pendrive shows nothing no file no icon:crying: but when i click on properties it still state that 5.xx gb been used the pendrive have fall to groud once just now is that the cause? any solution?:crying: thanks in advance.
Pendrives don't have moving parts, so dropping it shouldn't have had any effect ... Have you checked that the files haven't been hidden? Tried it on several computers / operating systems? Also, see if chkdisk helps.
Yes, definitely try using a differenct PC to see if you can (just) copy the files, otherwise... Pending on how important the data is on the flash drive, I would not recommend trying to fix or repair the flash drive just right now, until... First you need to sector copy/clone the USB drive, do a search. After the copy is made, search for "data recovery USB flash drive". When you try to recover the data, try it on the cloned USB drive first. There are lots of free apps that may help you recover your data. Good luck, Cheers!
Hi breakmystring, I got something similar yet different problem. I got a TDK Trans-IT Edge 16 Gb. (It comes with a Flashlock ver 2.24 T05). About 12 Gigs of pics. Problem is, I forgot some bits of the password. It has 6 tries and I already went 5 (I shoulda stick with Kingston Data Traveler Elite with 25 tries). The reason I went 5 tries is b'cos I am fairly sure about my password but isn't sure anymore about the "case-sensitivitiness" of the password I created. Now, it has a warning that says the next time I typed in the wrong pwd, it should erase/format the whole thing. So what I did was, since I have another identical drive, I just put some 15 Gigs worth of pics in it and purposely entered the wrong pwd 6 times. On the 6th time, it formats itself immed. Quite amazing though the format time is not quite congruent with its capacity size b'cos it went really fast. Quick format perhaps? ...but doesn't it also mean it (data) is still sitting around somewhere though it looks like it has reclaimed all its storage capacity. Any ideas, please, please help. Tks vm. MetalOrange Without going into the dark-side of cracking password security, you can try what I have posted earlier. (1) Do a sector copy/clone of your existing flashdrive (2) Then try entering the password (keep a list of passwords you have tried) on the "cloned" flashdrive (3) If password fails and the cloned drive is erased, then try finding apps to "undelete/data recovery" on the cloned drive If undelete fails, go back to #1, and try another password, repeat. Limsy How did you do it? Cheers!
all my file become hidden file so the problem solved as i ask my roomate help me solve it by using the method above many thanks
Turn off Autoplay if you're using Windows. It will save you PLENTY of problems in the future. Remember to thank me when you saw disaster averted for listening to me.
Break-My-String, Thanks man. How about a log, is there a hidden log containing everything, pwds included in garbage language? Look, I only need to see which must be in upper case and lower care. For example, the pwd is BadMinTonCENTRAL.com. You see I know what I've typed (I just didn't wrote it down), problem is, there's just too many possibilities. What if I just open the flashdrive and pull out whatever is inside then reassemble it to my identical flashdrive (assuming it's hardware encryption?). After that, if successful in retrieving the pics/data, I can just reassign a new pwd? Is there such thing or I am just imagining things too much? Many thanks again. MetalOrange
limsy, Thanks limsy for starting this thread, I was able to hitch a ride and get myself help (well, I haven't done it yet, but...) in the process with my flashdrive problems. I had baby pics of my two sons taken from the time they were born to now which, my elder boy is going to be 5 years old soon. It would be heartbreaking if I lose them all inside the drive. Guess, films and hardcopy of pics is still useful huh. Regards, MetalOrange
messing around with your mouse. next time, dont simply click. by the way, "Pendrive" is a brand name.
haha not my fault anyway because i lend my thumbdrive to my friendssssssssssss mah who knows what they do to my thumbrive?
ya photo is the best memory and remember if we have any problem we can always get help from bc a warm warm big family^^ i love u bc
Sorry, but you would have a better chance randomly typing passwords by letting your neighbour's cat walk on your keyboard . I would still try using (go google) free undelete / data recovery utilities! Cheers!
...or I can just let a blindfolded bare-assed primate punch at the keyboard Thanks a lot anyhow. Finally, if I bring it to a legit computer lab (wherein they can verify ownership--me, that is--of the flashdrive.), would they do it? I mean cracking the code? Obviously, I don't want to waste my time with my random flashes of ideas regarding on how to extract my own datapics. Besides, it is not something I am too keen on doing since I am no expert. It's easy to come up w ideas but to put it to test is really another thing...but the most important thing is I dont want to mess with my one last try before it formats the whole thing:crying:!! Sincerely, MetalOrange
