Yeah, maybe that's best option to attract top-names to participate... With no ranking points, SS Masters Finals is similar with invitational tourney like Copenhagen Masters.
That's a bit of a joke. Anyone thinks CHN cares about ranking points? So that their players can be world #1? Hahahahahaha.
They din care about SS ranking, but they do on world ranking esp during AG/OG year... Anyhow also they gonna squeeze 3 players to be the top 4, so that they can have a max of 3 players to represent the country in the tourney
I don't think one measly tournament with ranking points is going to concern them much. Remember they take time off SS tournaments to do their military training.
That's what i mean... coz WR and SS ranking is 2 diff sys, with CBA is more concern about the 1st system rather than the latter... They can skip SS, but join Gold GP, 2 star tourney to gain WR
My point is making the SS Finals a ranking event won't be a big deal for them. So in other words, the SS Finals might draw other players but China will continue to march to the beat of their own drum.
ok, suddenly think of a point to get rid of withdrawals... very cruel but more efficient and effective... For those who had registered to a event, but last minute withdraw not because of injury, accumulated points will be deducted... So on the other sense, who turn up and win +point as usual who withdraw without valid reason -accumulate points instead of remain unchange... (So their world ranking is affected 2, not only SS ranking)
were they withdrawl or simply never really registered for the SSF? it seems that BWF has the hope that top-8 players will be attracted and thus counted them into the SSF, but some of these players are just not interested to start with. that can be hardly seen as a withdrawl.
Unless BWF takes a hard stance and makes participation for the top 8 in the SS Final mandatory, with major consequences for no shows (other than legit reasons like injury), it's not going to scare anyone. Even injuries can be "doctored", so that's hard to monitor too
Yes, i agreed with u.........they just dont care.....they still can sweept all titles..........especially those majors hahaha
so the only way to stop this is to 'suspend' china team from international badminton? how's that sounds? hehe.. joking..
In SSF they din register, so nothing related to withdraw... just suddenly think of withdrawal cases... coz it happened lately during SS Europe & Asia...
No, George....China team is good for badminton, they set a high standard for others to chase for..... The only things is to improve our own standard to be come a real threat to China badminton team...........then.....
1st, limit each player to participate in SS tourney, let's say max of 8... to prevent domination (To give player enough rest also, to squeeze them into fighting spirit as well)... Y said so, coz if you only given limited chance to compete, u must do ur best in ea tourney in order to retain ur WR & SSR 2nd, propose player to participate event all around the world, to promote badminton. Let's say out of 8, for a asian, 3 must be in (Europe), 4 (Asia), and 1(other than Asia & Europe)... For an European, vise versa, with still 1 maintain for country other than Asia & Europe. In this case, we may c LD at Africa country, LCW at Ocenia... There are some idea coming soon... now no time to write... LOL
No, don't limit each player to participate in any tournament. That would cause them to pick and choose and the tournament would suffer.
Hmm.. ..what kind of "major consequences" would you suggest if you're BWF??..do you think they'll work??.. ..if the purpose is to make the CHN squad wake up and take this kind of event more seriously, i doubt rewarding higher and higher ranking pts will affect their overall "game plan", let alone put much dent in their dominance..esp. with the overflowing talents in the CHN squad and they'll most likely figure out a way to make up any lost pts.. ..for this idea, check out the thread below: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75188 It's also been brought up a few times before.
Oh, I don't know, public flogging maybe... Seriously, it has to come in the way of major fines. Hit them hard in the pocket. BWF's coffers get topped up nicely.
