    Without LCW ...

    No problem!

With LCW's knee suddenly acting up after picking up the USD40k cheque, let the good Datuk rest and stay home.

    Malaysia will overcome this setback.

We are a nation of high achievers and record breakers.

Tommy Sugiarto is not that weak. He was WJC MS runner up (CMIIW) 2007, and a regular quarter finalist/ semifinalist in some GP/GP Gold tourneys.

    ;) I think, it's 60-40 for Tommy :cool::D

Much better than Hayom ?? Are you sure??:eek:
If they face each other in big tourneys, I'm sure, Hayom will asolutely win. But, in training or in small tourneys, Tommy has a good chance to beat Hayom. 50-50 I think. Hayom is stronger mentally due to his recent titles, but in skills, Tommy is also good. When they were in juniors, I never saw Hayom could beat Tommy. We can see, when they were in the same tourneys, Hayom's result was not better than Tommy. :D

In 2008, If I'm not mistaken, Tommy beat Hayom twice. Tommy is also better than Andre Kurniawan. I think, til now, Andre still confuse how to beat Tommy.and I dont know whether Hayom can beat Andre or not.:cool:

If Hayom, it will be 65 - 35 for Hayom....against LDR or KBH...:D:D LOL

well, now just hope 3-0 or 3-1 for Indonesia (if INA vs MAS in final), so scary if I see 3rd MAS MS vs 3rd INA MS

With no Lee Chong Wei in the MS Draw as well in the Team Event, the chance for INA to take both Gold Medals has definitely increased a lot. Although Sony or Simon certainly cannot underestimate Boonsak Ponsana, Nguyen Tien-Minh or Mohd Hafiz Hashim.

INA will face THA in the SF of the Team-Event and there are a few tricky ties, esp in the MS1 (Sony vs Boonsak) and MS2 (Simon vs Tanongsak). INA cannot afford to slip up in either match  INA will take both doubles and hope to win it either 3-0 or 3-1.

    As for INA vs MAS:
MS1 Sony Dwi Kuncoro vs Mohd Hafiz Hashim - INA cannot afford to lose this one.
MD1 Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan vs Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong - 50-50 match and there's a chance that Kido/Hendra might lose.
MS2 Simon Santoso vs Kuan Beng Hong - again, INA must win this one.
MD2 Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan vs Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif - a battle of the inconsistent pairs and MAS surely has an edge for this one.
MS3 Tommy Sugiarto vs Daren Liew - another 50-50 match and it could go either way if the tie does come to the last match.

INA needs to win it 3-0. If the score is 2-1, then it will go to the decider.

    Team Event (Women) SF
    INA vs SIN:
WS1 Adriyanti Firdasari vs Zhang Beiwen - a tricky tie but Firda must win this one!
WD1 Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati vs Yao Lei/Shinta Mulia Sari - SIN can steal this one as I consider Yao/Shinta a relatively experienced pair. INA must win this point to ensure a Final Berth!
WS2 Maria Kristin Yulianti vs Xing Aiying - if Maria is at her best, she can defeat Xing. But, it all depends on her physical status.
WD2 Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii vs Vanessa Neo Yu Yan/Frances Liu Fan - INA will hope to seal the tie with a victory in this match.
WS3 Lindaweni Fanetri vs Fu Mingtian - in the unthinkable possibility that the tie will go to the wire, SIN will have an edge.

INA has to win the tie 3-0 or 3-1. If it goes to a decider, SIN to win it 3-2.

the question is not who will win between Hayom vs Tommy.

It is Hayom or Tommy vs other countries player.

Also this is team event. mental strength also plays some part

I just give some reason why Hayom is not MUCH better than Tommy. Maybe he is better, but not much. You can see to another post say that statement. Even if they face each other, we do not know who will win. And if we want to know which better when they compete with other foreign player, I have said, that, in the same tornaments, Hayom's result is not better than Tommy. we can see in Taipei Open, both were through quarter final. In India Open GP Gold 2009, Tommy can go until semifinal.

Tommy lost to Nguyen Tien Minh in Taipei Open in 3 tight sets. But, Hayom lost to NTM just in 2 straight sets in Vietnam Challenge. But, as a friend, I will always support Hayom. Go Hayom :D:D

For a simple example, in Vietnam Open GP 2009, Hayom just go until R-16. We could see that Tommy can break until Semifinal :D
Can we still say that Hayom is MUCH better ?? :D

The problem for Tommy is about lack opportunity from Pelatnas for him to compete in more and more tourneys.

It's really ironic for KONI to aim for "only" a 3rd place this year. This also implies the decline in INA's sporting prowess in the last 10 years

Your "only" 3rd place is still better than our "only" 2 golds in badminton.
