And for breaking a new Olympic Winter games record for hauling the most Gold medals ever. - Also to the German team, for once again finishing as one of the top 3 countries with the most medals count. And this will be their 38th straight yr of doing so (incl. during the East & West German period)! - One more day til the Closing ceremony and i'm wondering what type of extravagance closing ceremony show do they have in store for us to see?.. Overall, a well run WOG. Could've been better but i feel Vancouver has done its best!..on we go to Sochi for the 2014 WOG! ...and still waiting for madbad's pics...
Hockey tickets for the hocky final CAN versus US On VANOC's fan-to-fan re-sale site, asking prices for Sunday's Canada-U.S.A. clash ranged from $2,700 for a ticket in the upper bowl to $100,000 for four seats in section 121, row 23 (yes, they are together). At Showtimetickets.com, single-ticket values are in the $3,000-$6,000 range, and it's the same on Craigslist. Want to impress your friends? Buy a suite on Showtime for $138,000.
ya it's nuts... wouldn't be surprised if it passed the superbowl for most watched. You don't even need to like hockey, just to watch the last event... Canada vs USA... miracle on ice 2? Or does Canada get to break the gold medal record and win on home soil at the same time.
didn't we see this coming??.. ..but dang, tix price into the six figure mark??..i guess i must've underestimated my earlier prediction that the tix price would reach close to the 5-digit mark for the Final (well, it's in the 5-digit mark with $25k for one seat)..
Heads up for the info. Wish badminton can attract that kind of money and demographic who have that kind of purchasing power.
You have to remember that this is a gold medal game and that North America in general is just more affluent. Both Canada and the US hold Hockey in pretty high regard so by being held in Canada where most of the attendee's are Canadian with the US close behind you're going to see this type of demand.
Also the hype of this game played out by the media with all its history and rivalry. In addition, Team Canada and USA are full of All-Star level NHL players. Big names attract big money. I don't know, but somehow I hope Canada wins this one, but gut feeling is USA will outhit and outskate Canada and will be a very close match. Goaltending will probably decide this one.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has canceled a planned trip to Vancouver to attend the Closing ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games The announcement comes as a surprise because Russia is the next host of the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014, and Medvedev had planned to attend. No official reason for the cancellation was given, but Olympic protocol does not require the president of the next host country to attend the closing ceremonies. One thing is clear is that Russian has not done well at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. The Russian Men's Hockey team lost to Canada, when many expected them to compete for Gold on Sunday prior to the Closing Ceremonies. Russia has faced doping charges fro the International Olympic Committee and the speculation is that Dmitry Medvedev is perhaps a bit piqued about the way Russian and Russian athletes have been treated during the Vancouver Olympic Games. Then their was the storm over Evgeny Plashenko receiving the silver and not the gold medal during the men's figure skating program.
canada won by an overtime goal by sidney crosby. 3-2 a nail bitter game, very fitting for an olympic final a olympic record for most gold medals won by the host country great effort by the american players as well. they own the 3rd period as canada play defense to protect the lead
Canada won? And fellow Nova Scotian, Sid the Kid, scored the winning goal?! Too bad my one and only TV was nailed to the cartoon channel by the kids.:crying:. If you are looking to express gratitude to Mr. Crosby, you can send your monetary tribute via me. I promise to drive it over to Cole Harbour first thing tomorrow.
