well, the whininng of a bad and tough draw for LCW in the 2010 AE is all forgotten now. In reality, this alleged misfortune turns out to be a gift to LCW. There was no bcl, cj or lin dan in LCW's draw ladder, only chen long which he didn't have to face either. He get to face an indian guy Anand, a korean qualifer shon HW, an older and pooped out peter gade, and in the final a rising star Tago which doesn't have the closing-the-final-in-big-tournament experience, yet. other than that, well done LCW. You looked lean and fit. I wish i have calves and quad like that
I take that as grudging praise. Nobody selected his opponents for him except for the initial draw. How they came about was determined by their play. As for his calves and quads, dream on buddy, dream on

I just saw that too. Read some of the "emotionally" charged discussions in the 2010 AE Finals thread on it. His sportsmanship and composure, in the midst of it all, speak volume. All i can say is, i think that call could be a blessing in disguise for Tago. That call should motivate and put even more fire into Tago. The "what would have been" or "what could have been" will linger in his mind for some time..
Everyone saw that clearly. No one's arguing about that. In fact there has been much venom spewed over this I'm hoping, simply in the heat of the moment. Whether the starts were aligned or not, LCW still had to get to the final and his opponents sorted themselves along the way. He can only control who he plays. Let's not dilute the value of his victory. He won and that's what counts.
I agree the line judge made an error in calling out the shot, and it is not that LCW cheat to win; he can only play/control the game and leave judging to the line judge and referee, that he win in the eye of the game. But the bird was obviously out, Tago may be sporting and all, but he should contest that call in the fairness of the sport and to his fans in Japan and everywhere. Also, with the score at 20:19, tying it at that time is crucial. I know LD will contest, so do I too. I even know some people I play social baddy with, may even resort to calling out their opponents mother name in all kind of language that not found in dictionary to argue that call
Finally got to watch the LCW-Tago match. My first comment is: have you ever seen a match with so many net cords? The sick thing was the majority of them were planned that way. Hats off to Ken Tago, whose net game today was outstanding. He goes cross court a lot on flat lifts and is light on his feet. He gave away several cheap points by dumping service returns into the net. A real no-no. LCW was also winning points by smashing at his right hip. Nice bit of homework by Misbun. Tago also played several nice lookaway shots but LCW was alert to them. Once Tago tightens his game a little he could be a very difficult opponent. As for LCW, he overcame early jitters to overhaul Tago and managed to hold on. He is still prone to period of lapses where he plays lax shots instead of going for the jugular. That only exerts more pressure on himself. On a positive note, he was under unbelievable pressure as the overwhelming favourite and found a way to convert. This will be a boost to improving his strength. I hope he can store this experience somewhere and pull it out when he needs it again. The controversial winning point has been discussed ad nauseum. Every champion needs a slice of luck to be one. Like they say, "it's good to be lucky and lucky to be good". All those who argued with calm and common sense, well done. Overall I saw a LCW that did enough to win. I'm sure he doesn't care how he did it because he is finally an All England Champion.
