Last year we have got Nanospeed line updated with 9900. This year we have a bunch of Arcsabers on the pipeline (5, 8DX, 008) also the Z was just released not too long ago. How about Armortecs? I think it's about time for an update.
The fact that LCW still uses the AT900P is somewhat an indication that the Armortecs aren't as inferior to the latest racquets as you might think.. still a valid point nonetheless.
Umm...I never think AT line is inferior actually. I only think that Yonex need to update their head heavy rackets line (Armortecs). Personally, I like 4U headheavy rackets. Recently, I have turned to Victors as they have plenty of choices available. I am just hoping Yonex would update their Armortec line. My wish ideal racket would be headheavy, 4U, short handle, Very Stiff, Isometric Head, Aerodynamic Frame. Come on Yonex. Update your Armortec line. Otherwise people might switch to other brands.
AT800 DE is stiff, not very stiff and long handle (not short at all). If at all the description sounds more like the Ti-8 or Ti-10 (both first gen) to me, only that they didn't come in 4U. The most "perfect" Armortec was still the 1st gen AT700 no doubt. I kind of wish it had the Muscle Power bumps which I have tested and can confirm that they actually do retain the string tension.
Exactly! I wish I have got a chance to get my hands on the old version of AT700. Too bad I do not have a chance to find one. AT700 would have box frame and not aerodynamic frame though.
Definately agree that Armortec's shouldn't be ignored! I've tried most of yonex's new Nanospeeds and Arcsabers only to sell them back out very quickly. I avoid anything that says "fullrene or nanocarbon" on it now as I don't like the feel. Only problem with the Armortecs that I've noticed is that all of the Frames are WEAK SAUCE! Seen others break them with weak clashes at 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, and even 4 o'clock! I personally broke two as well one from when the strings snapped, and the second when it literally gently touched a padded game floor. Since then, I've found my way to the AT700 LTD which is almost perfect to my style. If and when the AT1000 comes out, I hope the specs will be closer to the "dragon"
most of the at's are great the way they are personally my favorite yonex racquet of all time and the only one i would ever use if had the chance would be the AT700, i liked the old and still like the new one too since ive used it and actually have 2 of them but dont use them due to ZELM sponsorship. no need to improve on it imo.
I think Yonex should improve the grommets of the AT series, AT900P/T and AT700 when strung at higher tension, the grommets gets cut by the string easily and may penetrate into the frame after multiple restringing. Maybe make the AT1000 have a stringing pattern like Arc8DX and guaranteed to take 27-28lbs. Arigato gozaimasu.
They're very smart.Rather than to re-design the racket,they're making special grommets for those rackets.
AT800OF, also known as the do-or-die racquet The only thing I found lacking of the design was the shorter shaft, which meant that the ultimate bend point of the racquet isn't as much as the AT700 which can produce more interesting smashing angles. To be honest I never had any problem with the grommet sinking thing on my properly strung AT700, AT800 and AT900. The stringing technique (not exactly sure how but somehow it does seem so for my racquets) seems to have more of a factor to this compared to the model or design.
