Hello, Looking on your technical pictures I've decided to make this elements myself using normal steel and simple tools like drill, grinder, welder. The result you can see below. Thermo-shring tubes protect the frame. The supports are quite tough at the moment, so in the future I'm going to paint it. Stringing process is really easier now. Thanks for nice idea Cheers, Michal
Get dink to like it, and market it under the DC Badminton brand! Or maybe this gives you a reason to come visit the sunny side of the world ^_^
Yes, but only for first main strings. It's easier to start when you have some kind of fixed clamps, even tennis clamps. Later flying clamps (pro's pro too) are more comfortable and faster in use. And of course is unpossible to use tennis clamps for cross badminton strings.
thanks boss, I have all you've mentioned ..... but I prefer Yonex flying clamp for the cross and Hiqua flying clamp for the main. Pro's Pro flying clamp is similar to Alpha ones or AEF flying clamp, a bit loose compare to Hiqua (at least from my experiences). so meaning, you do not have badminton fixed-clamp, right ?
Right. Fixed tennis clamps (for 2-3 strings of the main) and flying badminton clamps (for the rest of main and all of the crosses). I can compare them (P'sP) to Victor flying clamps only. Pro's Pro are wider (better holding tension) and much easier to put on to the strings.
Hey Mark, I would be interested in some of those badminton specific supports Do update me if anything happens. On a side note, where do we get fixed badminton clamps? I've got a Gamma Progression 2
which badminton specific fixed clamp would you recommend? and how many Hiqua as well as Yonex Flying Clamps do you use?
I have 2 Yonex flying clamp, and 2 HiQua flying clamp. You can see the video where Dink strings his Ultra at 41lbs. When he did the main, he used HiQua When he did the cross, he used Yonex
thats what i plan to use already have hiquas, getting yonex next. do you have badminton specific fixed clamps?
I have a Gamma Progression ST 2. I was looking at Watdon's badminton fixed clamp. Do you know if it's any good? Will it fit my machine? Thanks.
you'd better get from Gamma instead of Watdon. Gamma also has the badminton fixed-clamp, and it is also OK. you can search at www.atssports.com for Gamma badminton fixed clamp.
If you mean the ones that look like this then yes, Wat Don have them, and yes, they are ideally suited to badminton (and yes, I can get them for you). However, I had an episode with a failure of one of these: there is a ball bearing on the end of a screw that adjusts the gap, and this bearing had deformed the locking plate to the point where the ball kept popping out. I got some universal (i.e. all racket sports) clamps from Wat Don, looking like this, and these are outstanding - indeed, DinkALot got two pairs from me and loves them more and more every day - so I recommend you go for these, as they have a far more precise and robust adjusting mechanism.
