heard that BWF suddenly change the rules of determining players' seeding in both TC & UC.

it was always told to use WR. now BWF say they like to use average points from the players' best 6 super series. this would be confirmed at team managers meeting today.

obviously this targets at China's MD.

though i also want other team to get TC, this is too much a dirty trick by BWF, by changing of rules of competition at last minute! totally black-box operation!

    anyone could verify the news?

It's true. Chinese media already had interviews with LYB and ZJ and confirmed the news, and today the team will discuss with BWF about it.

Well, as Chinese, we've been used to such kind of things happened every time. It's naive to believe justice and fair play spirit can be existed in BWF and also here. :)

The sad thing is that the people think this is the way to promote badminton.

Best in super series ranking!? This would turn CHN into a disarray!

    Imagine
    1st MS - Chen Jin (3)
    1st MD - Guo Zhendong/Xu Chen (1)
    2nd MS - Chen Long (4)
    2nd MD - Chai Biao/Zhang Nan
    3rd MS - Bao Chunlai (7)
    3rd MD - Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng (13)
    4th MS - Lin Dan!!!! (21)
Then Lin Dan can only play 3rd MS! If this rule is implemented, it is obvious that they are trying to take down China. However, not the MD at all, but rather the MS.

Hmmm, why BWF have to do all this last minute decision? Although I'm not a fan of China, i think it's unfair to their TC squad...:(

As per Chinese press, the seed ranking determined by BWF yesterday is not just based on world ranking but also the player's performance.:D:D:D

If you see it from another perspective. Perhaps BWF is telling players not to skip skip skip the SS too many times or else this is what you get.

I think this is a good idea. No one is above the fans interest. If the big player skips, the fans loose out. I as a fan endorse this to keep all the ss more interesting. ;)

Before making any assumption, next time maybe please count the points first. Based on their best 6 SS points from their world ranking,

    China MS ranking:

    1. Lin Dan with over 42000 points.
    2. CJ with over 41000 points.
    3. BCL with below 40000 points.
    4. CL

    So nothing changes.

I don't kow why BWF changes the rules. But LD still will play as China first single.

I wonder how BWF will rank players in one team if there are two or more players who never played in SS events before like Australia Uber teams . Most of the players ranking points based solely on small events. So they had only zero points?

BWF want to make badminton a GLOBAL sport. But if they based team rankings based on 6 best SS points, countries with no badmintoon strong root will suffer like Australia team, Africa teams etc etc.

And basically only teams whose players compete in SS events can play in THomas and Uber Cup. Otherwise they will have ZERO points.

So I do not think BWF will use this rules. I do not think they are DUMB enough. But you never know. :)

Yup. Even if they average it out, LD is still 1st MS, he's in semi or finals most tourneys.

If I not mistaken, Guo/Xu Chen will still be higher ranked than Fu/Cai. FU/Cai only participated 4 SS according to BWF SS ranking.
    So, it's status quo : MD 1 = Guo/Xie, MD 2 = Fu/Cai, Reserve = CB/ZN

Their Uber Cup team may be effected but WYH is still 1st WS

I don't think LYB will had any worried with their Uber CUp player formation. Anybody on the team can play first single , second and third single and vice versa, the UBer CUp team wtill will win convincingly.

the MS players will not be affected, it will only affect the doubles players and WS. As it is based on notional point calculation method, LD's current points is 71424.58 and has competed in a total of 9 super series.

    LD's notional points = 71424.58/9 * 10

By using this notional point calculation method, the squad will be as follow:

    MS:
    1. Lin Dan 79360.64
    2. Chen Jin 56666.67
    3. Bao Chunlai 50672.73
    4. Chen Long 38385.71

    MD:
    1. Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng 80806.10
    2. Xu Chen/Guo Zhengdong 53472.73
    3. Chai Biao/Zhang Nan 41580.00

    WS:
    1. Wang Xin 59872.73
    2. Jiang Yanjiao 59350.00
    3. Wang Shixian 55345.45
    4. Wang Yihan 51893.88

    WD:
    1. Du Jing/Yu Yang 81508.59
    2. Ma Jin/Wang Xiaoli 66981.82
    3. Pan Pan/Tian Qing 47460.00
