That was 7 years ago, he is more focused now, I reckon he can and will reach the Final, besides we all know that NTM will win in the final.

Well, I believe the winner between Nguyen Tien Minh vs Alamsyah Yunus will win this tournament. And NTM has slightly higher chance than Alam to win the match!

Not that time, this one was in 2006 at the Victorian International, But I guess we will just have to agree to disagree how far AC will progress. Although you are right regarding NTM, i think he will win the tournament without being truly tested

It's Hwang Hye Yeon, not Hwang Hye Youn

    .
    Hi madbad,

Caught up with HHY today, before she played her Singles match (Round 1: Against Spooti Rattan).

Told her about you being her BIGGEST fan. :):):) Got her to sign an autograph for you.

I was surprised that she spelt her name Hwang Hye Yeon, not Hwang Hye Youn.

So BWF have misspelt her name.:eek::eek:

    Hi Chris

Event, the Korean player expert, had posted somewhere about the spelling differences.

So how was your visit with her? And what was her English like? Most importantly, how are you going to get the autograph to me? :p:p

    Thanks
    mb

    HHY speaks little English

    .
OK, our event, from Korea, would have explained. :):):)
But I have got HHY's own personal/private spelling for you. ;););)

HHY speaks little English. I needed a translator to talk with her.

BTW, her coach told me that she is still worried about HHY's bad ankle.

Is there anyone from Canada who is here in Melbourne who could bring back the autograph for you?

Yeah, her ankle injury was very serious. The fact she is playing is good enough for me.

Maybe you can physically mail the autograph to me. Is your PM mailbox cleared? I will PM you my address.

Thanks again. Hope you're enjoying the Aussie Open while we're having our own Canadian Open here.

'Yeon' is the spelling suggested by the government, but that system isn't always the easiest to read. English speakers, for example, have no point of reference for 'eo' and that is why non-Koreans have trouble pronouncing 'Seoul' and they either ignore the 'e' and say 'soul' or 'sole' or they pronounce it like an 'e' and say 'see-owl'. From the spelling, no English speaker would ever guess it was closest to 'suh-ool'. The spelling 'youn' is the one used not only by the BWF, but also by the BKA, which often uses spellings that are unambiguous, if inconsistent. In Hwang's case, it just happens to be exactly one letter different from the name of 1992 gold medallist Hwang Hye Young, whose name in Korean also differs from the singles player's by only one phoneme. In other cases, the BKA's spelling differs from the government method, giving us Park Joo Bong rather than Bak Ju Bong, Kim Dong Moon instead of Gim Dong Mun, and Jung Jae Sung instead of Jeong Jae Seong.

Hmm, don't think so. It will just be a good learning experience for Zulfadli Zukliffi. He just lost tamely to WCH in the Malaysian GP, so don't even count for an upset. :)
