IMHO, Misaki Matsutomo plays better than Minatsu Mitani . Hi suetyan, You have caused me to stay with the Japanese camp most of the time at this 2010 Australian Open GP (to find answers for you). Even the Korean players asked how come I stayed with the JPN camp, and not with theirs. Our ctjcad has already given you the link to the UNISYS Club players; * Sayuri Asahara (mentioned in the link) * Yuko Kanamori (also mentioned in the link) * Hajime Komiyama (not mentioned in the link) is the XD partner of Sayuri Asahara. Hajime Komiyama lead the UNISYS Club to this tournament. His role was captain, coach and player. But, Minatsu Mitani (the runner-up for the WS title) comes from the NTT East Club. She came with teammate, Megumi Taruno (the No.1 WS seed), separately from the UNISYS Club. Minatsu Mitani and Megumi Taruno came with a separate coach. They told me that you can check out their NTT East Club activities from this link, located at: http://www.ntt-east.co.jp/symbol/badminton/ BTW, Minatsu Mitani is really cute and new to international tournaments. After she lost her match, she returned our JPN camp feeling most discouraged . She just sat at my feet (on the floor) feeling so disappointed. And when she found out that the prize money for winning the WS title (to be presented) was valued at US$3,750; she said to her coach, something along this line: "How come you didn't tell me that the prize money is so good? I would love to win that prize money to buy plenty of presents from Australia to take home." As before, we were talking about the JPN WS player with potential, Misaki Matsutomo. She is from the UNISYS Club. IMHO, Misaki is stronger than Minatsu. But Misaki was injured at this tournament. So let's follow these two 18 years old JPN players in future tournaments; to see who would one day be representing as No.1 WS for JPN. .

2010 Australian Badminton Open GP Womens Singles Winner: Seo Yoon Hee . Actually, we were guessing that the 2 JPN MM's, Hwang Hye Yeon and/or Kang Hae Won could win the WS title. But Seo Yoon Hee surprised all of us. She defeated all the 4 guesses. BTW, Misaki is a great strokes player. But Minatsu has more power play. .

I knew that Lee Kyung Won (together with Kim Min Seo) would surely win the WD title . So you have noticed that only Nguyen Tien Minh (seeded 1) and Yogendran Krishnan (seeded 5/8) were the only two players to have reached the Finals. I was surprised too; Although I knew that Lee Kyung Won (together with Kim Min Seo) would surely win the WD title, even though they were unseeded. .
Misaki Matsutomo will be JPN No.1 in the near future . It is anyone's guesses. For me, Misaki Matsutomo will be JPN No.1 in the near future. Why? It's just the way I like how she plays Singles (with good patience, correct strokes technique and great footwork). .

Misaki Matsutomo was injured in Round 2 at our 2010 Australian Open GP . It's so unfortunate that Misaki Matsutomo was injured in Round 2 at our 2010 Australian Open GP. She defeated Kang Hae Won (KOR) 21-14 in her first game quite easily. After MM had decided to give a walkover in the second game, she could hardly walk. Then, I organised a wheelchair for her; thinking that her injury was very serious. But later, she said she could walk without the wheelchair. Misaki hasn't come back to our MSAC tournament venue after her injury. Her teammates told me that she will be staying back at the hotel to rest and to recover. .
