Me too, they managed to beat KKK/TBH even not in top form after rested for few months without tournament. LYD just recovered from his elbow injury and still a bit rusty...but yet able to grab Tpe Open title....thats impressive.
I think Tony is still a top player and I believe that he can go and win a few more super series and maybe another world championship, maybe he need a switch .......
If history repeat itself, Tony needs a new partner. He's the most successful player in sense that he won biggest titles (WC, Olympic and TC) partnering with 4 different partners (Rexy, Halim, Chandra, and Howard)
This year MD will be fun to watch. None of the top 4 seems to be at their best shape. Meanwhile, the 2nd Kor MD Ko/Yoo and Chinese Taipei Fang/Lee are doing so strong lately and they are definitely the dark horses. And the Danes will get the edge for playing in Europe as well. I am so tempt to vote for Fang/Lee as I really like their explosive plays. But for a safer bet (probably not so safe either). I voted for Kido and Setiawan. I am hoping that Kido will make fewer silly mistakes and be motivated.
Could this be a changing of the guard year for MD? I'd like to see a young pair go far it this year. As mentioned by Wong8Egg, Ko/Yoo and Fang/Lee have been in good form of late. Or who knows, another pair might jump out of nowhere and surprise. PS. Fang/Lee are so damed fast it's fun to watch
Fang/Lee remind me of Kido/Hendra's back in 2005 when they first came out. Fast, explosive, and very agile. They just need to reduce their errors and maintain concentration.
The taiwanese' coaches are worried that fang and lee peaked too soon and they blamed taiwai badminton association to force many players to participate took many tournaments and lost to cho and partner in easy 2 sets during Taipeh open..
Haha. No kidding. This would be the third poll in a row that chose Jung/Lee, which makes one think there might be some other reason. Still, they did go into both the 2008 Olympics and last year's WC on a high, just like now. Practically every time, they went into the summer test having won their immediately previous encounter with their main competition so it makes sense people would vote for them. In other words, it isn't necessarily a popularity contest.
..last yr's WC MS winner prediction was right on the money!.. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?73038-Who-will-win-the-MS-title-at-the-2009-WC But, unfortunately, there have been only 2 out of 15 prediction polls (06 WC, 08 OG & 09 WC) in BC that have been spot on..the other correct prediction was the 2006 WC MD winner..
