You know another small sized player who routinely whacks everyone she meets and was virtually untouchable until she did everyone a favour and retired? Gong Zhichao. Btw, WYH is 5'8", so I wouldn't consider her size a handicap at all. :)

Is Tine Baun = Tine Rasmussen?
Aren't Zhou Mi and Lady Pi too old to be considered?:p
So will badminton Gods allow a non-Chinese to win World Championship this time. I think not, I hope yes :D

China is the most dominant, but Jiang Yan Jiang by far is the best in China. I vote for Jiang YJ.

just from the results of latest China super league, Jiang YJ has won 19 matches out of 20 among the best 8 players/teams. the winning percentage is 95%.

Wang ShiXiang, Wang Xin, Wang Lin are probably among 2nd - 4th, with only 60%-70% wining percentage.

Wang YiHan is the worst, probably the 7th or 8th, with less than 30% winning percentage.

Based on this statistics, I vote for Jiang YJ with solid reasons.

you are right, i just checked the draw, cannot find Jiang YJ there. what I can say! Very disappointed.

Wang Xin the top lead in the poll, but she has been beaten by Jiang YJ twice badly in the super leage. (21-15, 21-18, 21-10, 21-11)

Wang ShiXian is the 2nd in the poll, she also beaten by Jiang YJ twice badly.

If they win the champion, or anyone wins the world champion, can she claim the best in the world?

Trust me, I too think it's an injustice JYJ was not chosen despite her tremendous form. Too much politics in team selection. Or could it be as simple as changing her last name to Wang?

So who is your prediction for now?

it's a tough call. None except Jiang can dominate. I think Tina, Wang ShiXian, Wang Lin have their chances. Wang YH lost her mojo long time ago. Wang Xin is good, but never being the go to guy; The indian girl is too young, volunable and not all around

I think it's IBF's fault to tarnish the world championship by granting the association rights to select tournaments qualifiers. According to the performance, China should disqualify Wang Yihan, but Wang is the current top ranked player. So the so called World championship is tarnished because it's a tournament without the best player, even the 1st ranked player.

But China still sent Wang Yihan, the worst WS in the super league. this actually saved IBF's face. China could send others by regulations, that would make the world championship without top ranked players. But instead of doing that, China sent the top ranked, but not the best player, therefore made the world championship a tournament without the best player in the world.

What a joke! Nowadays, we just simply cannot find a tournament which can truly determine who is the best in the world.

Best players but not participating, won't be judged as 'The Best

    .
To be more correct; we can only determine who is the 'Best Participating Player' in the world.

Best players but not participating, won't be judged as 'The Best'.

    wow, I was so accurate

I was so accurate in my pre-tournament prediction. Despite 1st ranked and popular in the fans, I knew Wang Yihan would choke in the early rounds. Share another story, WYH even lost to a local teenager girl here. Indian protege Nehwal is still too volunable.

The 3 girls I chose are now the exact only 3 girls in the semi-final! How accurate I was! The other spot could be taken by Wang Xin if Pi HY agrees; as I pointed out Wang Xin's good, but will lost to Wang SX in the semi.

I beg to differ. For the sake of argument, suppose WYH's spot is replaced by JYJ
and JYJ has defeated Wang Lin for the semi-final spot against Tina Baun.

    Per their past h2h records:
    JYJ vs Tina is 0:2
    WYH vs Tina is 3:4

What make you so confident that JYJ will do better playing against Tina than WYH?
Simply because JYJ has performed best playing China professional league, JYJ
has a better chance playing against Tina?

I said JYJ's a better player than WYH, But I never said I'm confident that JYJ will do better playing against Tina. What's the relationship between that? Although the current fact is that WYH in current form cannot compete with Tina at all.

H2H records is a history record, I said WYH was the best in her peak time, but she lost her mojo long time ago, history is just history.

Your logic is hard to understand. I was talking about something who's the best now. JYJ's surely better than WYH now. I was NOT talking about the history head 2 head against some specific person. I was NOT talking about who can beat Tina more easily either. Those are all different issues.

Back the my question and your question all together. I think JYJ is the best currently, but unfortunately no world championship to verify it. For who can easilier beat Tina, I still think JYJ can handle Tina better than WYH in current form. Although Wang Xin probably the one who can beat Tina the easiest, but JYJ is still better than Wang Xin because there are hundreds of players there, not just 1 or 2. When we talk about the best, it's an overall evaluation, but just for fight against Tina.
