..as far as i can see, all of the predicted winners from the BC polls have survived, just like last yr; no jinx so far. But we'll see if all of them will survive past the R16; as I recall last yr, Wang YH, who was the WS poll winner faltered, in the R16 against Juliane Schenk. Will Nova & Lilyana be the first casualties of the BC jinx??..
Matches start at 11:00am, Paris time (Jakarta -5hours, KL -6hours, London +1hour) I can see sooo many good matches for tomorow Every single will be a big battle !! As usual i'll be in the arena so see you tomorow morning in this thread !! Just to remind, here are the main results of day 3 (wednesday) : Tago lost Jorgensen lost WMC lost Santoso is walkover Firdasari lost CHW lost Gan/Tan lost Wan Ho Chon lost Bad day for Indonesia (only Taufik remains in MS) and Malaysia....
It was quite close at the European Championships... Let's see what Zwiebler can do against Gade this time!
wow, the biggest clash next round is no doubt between Lin dan vs Bao CL the legendary rivalry of the century! Both of them should be among the best 3 in the world currently. We should call the match the real final in the 3rd round! No body interested in this?!
i am kind of curious and wondering if anyone else noticed, that the taiwan team seem to have made tremendous strides within the past 12 months. quite a number of their players have moved up in the world rankings. is this due to improved training? new coaches? new energy drinks? infusion of sponsorship dollars? anyone have any insights?
A lot of interesting matches for today. 1. Wang Lin - Yip Pui Yin Wang Lin performance in CBSL is quite okay after several bad result at early this year. Meanwhile Yippy is on her top form, winning Mas GPG weeks ago. Wang Lin will survive. 2. Wang Yihan - Eriko Hirose I could sense an upset here if WYH is still in CBSL mode. 3. Ma Jin/Wang Xiaoli - Shinta MS/Yao Lei Singapore SS 2010 winner will try to prove their worth, but it's not easy to crack the great wall. 4. Tao Jiaming/Zhang Yawen - Hendra Aprida Gunawan/Vita Marisa Will ZYW follow her ex-partner Zhao TT to retire with a WC title in her belt? INA's pair has a slightly advantage considering their recent performance in Macau-Taipei GPG. 5. Joachim Fischer-Nielsen/Christina Pedersen - Ko SH/Ha JE I hope Joachim has fully recovered or it will be walk in the park by Koreans 6. Lee Sheng Mu/Chien Yu Chin - Lee Yongdae/Lee Hyojung I won't be surprised if Lee/Chien won it tight rubber set. 7. Ella Diehl - Saina Nehwal Ella's form seems quite good. In their last encounter in INA SS, Saina won in rubber game. Expecting another rubber with the same result. 8. Taufik Hidayat - Tanongsak S I still remember how Taufik lost to Song in TC 08. Hopefully, Taufik will prevail. 9. Nguyen TM - Park Sung Hwan I am rooting for Nguyen to win this match. 10. Peter Gade - Marc Zwiebler Another hard and tight battle and hopefully uncle Gade will win. 12. J Schenk - Cheng Siao Ceh Schenk has a slightly advantage Last but not least 13. Lin Dan - Bao Chunlai If everything is normal, LD will win it for sure. Just my 2 cents.
Li Yong Bo will order both of them to play "fairly" and Lin Dan will proceed to next round. End of story
..imo, the only CHN TPE players/pairs which have made great strides in the last few months are the MD pairing of LeeSM & FangCM and maybe the WD pairing of ChienYC & ChengWH (even then, they've been on a roller coaster in terms of WR standing). Other than them, their other compatriots have been pretty stagnant if not gotten a bit worse. I won't count Tai TY as she hasn't gone into full time senior competition enough. Other than the above possible factors, i also would attribute it to the lack of participation of CHN's MD pairs and also KOR's JJS & LYD. So, in reality, i would only count the MD pair of LSM & FCM as making "tremendous" strides. ..who are DJ & YY's opponents in the R16 again??..
The Japanese pair.. see here : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=F62164E2-8D5A-414A-8D71-748A49C68A3E&draw=4
some people think CHN vs CHN not interesting. Well, Lin D vs Bao CL is different. Let me share a story, when Bao CL's father was interviewed on the TV, asked what's the biggest obstacle for Bao winning the Olympics. Bao's father said, Lin Dan, he said he ordered his son to beat Lin Dan as the ultimate goal in each tournament, even more important than winning the title. I don't think Li Yong Bo can do much about that. When Li YB was asked by reporters about the failure at this year's all England, LYB said the reason was Lin Dan lost to Bao CL, but he(LYB) could not do anything about it.
..if this JPN pair can force DJ & YY to rubber games, i would give them a lot of credit..Personally, i think DJ & YY are fit & ready to go far in this WC..
