The BWF laws do not recognize words such as tempering or manipulating of the shuttles. Only words such as modify and damage to the shuttle to the extent the speed or its flight is changed are recognized. So stroking the feathers, even adjusting each individual feather, or shaping the feathers with your fingers into proper shape, so long as they do not modify or do any damage, is not a problem. Any modification or damage to the feathers are clearly verifiable and easily checked by the umpire. It is the state and condition of the shuttle that the umpire actually sees on which he makes his decision, not complaints from the players. From all the videos the umpire simply waves TH away after checking, apparently satisfied that there was nothing wrong.
I am so puzzled with the fans who didnot like CJ win the title here. Even Indonesia newspaper like Kompas openly admitted that the reason TH lost is he making too many unforced errors and cannot compete with CJ speed. Although TH had the skill but not the speed anymore. Making too many excuses specially if you are the players who loss will take you nowhere. Take China girls as example. They lost in Uber Cup. LYB didnot make any crazy excuses aside that he said the team didnot had team experience and the mental enough to win the Cup. (which is true) Then in this WC , the girls just beat anybody (except for WYH who lost to Eriko) For other players and fans who lost to China players. Stop making lame excuses. Prove it by winning top title next time by working more and more harder. Like China did by winning all titles here.
Another top example had to be Roger Federer and Nadal from tennis fielld. They also had up and down in their career. But when they lost and losing their number one ranking, they didnot making any crazy excuses like bad food poisoning, etc etc like in badminton. They just work harder and prepare better. Like changing their serve a bit or be more consistent with their shots. The result: Federer won 3 GS titles from French Open 2009 to Australia Open 2010. (And back to number one before: ) Nadal win back to back French Open 2010, Wimbledon 2010. (And gain back his number one ranking from Federer) Talk is cheap. Prove it .
you should be specific as to who you are critisizing the whole lot of posters here in this thread? most of us are here to discuss the possibility of chen jin cheating i repeat, discuss the possibility and not make lame excuses and some of us has come up with our own conclusion feel free to read the whole posts and nothing but the posts
Chen Jin has won his last 16 BWF matches in a row . I agree with hcpoirot. If BCers have been following Chen Jin's progress at our BWF tournaments; Chen Jin has won his last 16 BWF matches in a row. Even though, I don't think that this is a record, Chen Jin has definitely shown us that he is a great Badminton player. The last BWF tournament match when Chen Jin lost, was to Kenichi Tago, back in 12-Mar-2010, at the All-England Quarter-Finals. Let's hope that Chen Jin can continue with more victories. .
Chen Jin could be ranked 3rd in our BWF World Rankings (as at Thursday 02-Sep-2010) . With Chen Jin's good run of victories, Chen Jin could be ranked 3rd in our BWF World Rankings; just under; * No.1 Lee Chong Wei (MAS) * No.2 Peter Gade (DEN) come this Thursday, 02-Sep-2010. .
I just cannot understand many people see almost everything as "excuse" -- maybe because they think every poster has to be a die-hard fan of this or that player? IMHO, this post is totally appropriate. During the final of the past WC, TH raised an issue to the umpire about CJ tampering with the shuttle. Such a unusual scene in such an important match deserves discussion. It's like discussing whether Torres dived in the World Cup Final. I myself learned a lot about badminton from this post.
..so, after 21 pages of basically going around the circle discussions and banters, there is still no conclusion as to whether CJ was cheating or not??..boy, we sure make good detectives.....or is there a "conclusion" which i missed??.. if only that kming fella had a camera or camcorder with him to record the supposed feather/shuttlecock tampering by CJ..
with so little evidence, it will be impossible to have everyone agree on anything. all we can make here are educated guesses. "make your own conclusions."
Isn't A>B and B>C, then A>C? Just kidding, poor Chen Jin had better win AG MS title as well to prove he is a worthy Champion ...
It's exactly because of ill-conceived comments like this that make REAL China fans roll their eyes and wish clowns like you would simply go away.
whatever son , the fact is that you are not in a position to judge ; and mentioning my brothers and sisters in a way to start a conflict you should be ashame of your action............ and next time if you have something to say about my comments, please just direct them at me and not bring in or refer to other people and cause trouble....
Okay, let me clarify a bit about my last post #352: 1. Only 2 out of 166 poll voters picked Chen Jin to win WC. 2. He was lucky that he didn't need to play LD and LCW. 3. He defeated TH at the final, yet there is still 21 page of discussion of "Was Chen Jin cheating?"
these are some valid questions (except perhaps #1 as we already know how good we are at picking WCs...) but belongs to a different topic like "Does Chen Jin deserve the WC?" of course, that will be a question with even less conclusive answers and expect to see another 20+ pages thread.
That would be a good thread but must leave the shuttle cock out of the discussion or there would be no end.
Surprised if "cheating" can be so easily used in our game of Badminton . I would be most surprised if "cheating" can be so easily used in our game of Badminton. Let's hope that our young BC members (new to Badminton) reading this thread, would not be influenced to think of trying all sorts of tricks; thinking that we can win a match by trickery. .
Here's where all the trouble started in 2009. CJ may be doing it unconciously or may not be aware that it is unfair. He has stopped doing it, its a hard habit to break, he is now the World Champ and his coaches have to keep reminding him to stop the old habit he picked up maybe in local tournaments. Anyway this clip is only for verification, CJ won the 2010 fairly and deserved it. Even Taufik supporters agree.
Using the hand to stroke the feathers back into shape the way CJ does it on the video is perfectly legitimate. This is often done after the feathers have been spread-eagled a bit after some angular shots like sliced drops. Re-shaping it will make it play better. This technique is not modifying or damaging the shuttle.
