5. Men's team: almost guaranteed Women's team: almost guaranteed Women's singles: almost guaranteed Women's doubles: almost guaranteed Mixed doubles: Very likely Men's doubles: Possibly but Cai/Fu have to potentially take down Jung/Lee, Kido/Setiawan and Koo/Tan. Men's singles: Not likely unless Lin Dan is not yielded for team event as Lin Dan can't play high-level badmnton for 2 consecutive weeks.
I think LD will be fielded sparingly in the team event to preserve him for the individual one. He may play 2 or possibly one match only. I guess it will depend on how the draw unfolds

Seeded No. 2, Markis and Hendra have a relatively clear path to the final . From JakartaGlobe on Saturday 23-Oct-2010; http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/sports/asiad-draw-throws-off-indonesias-bid-for-gold-badminton/402854 Indonesia’s best chance of a badminton gold could come in the men’s doubles. Seeded No. 2, Markis and Hendra have a relatively clear path to the final where they are expected to face Malaysians Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong Tan. However, Markis and Hendra cannot afford to overlook China’s Cai Yung and Fu Haifeng, who are seeded seventh but pose the biggest threat to the Indonesian pair’s bid. .
Markis -Hendra pair have not been performing well lately, probably due to MK's injury.. i don't see them winning the gold this time..
2010 Asian Games: Taufik Hidayat said it will difficult to win GOLD this time . From JakartaGlobe on Saturday 23-Oct-2010; http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/sports/asiad-draw-throws-off-indonesias-bid-for-gold-badminton/402854 Taufik Hidayat, who won the gold medal in the 2002 and 2006 Asian Games, said achieving a hat-trick of medals “looked impossible.” “I would like to win the gold again, because that’s what I’ve been targeting this season. However, I think this time it doesn’t look possible,” Taufik said. “Three of the top four in the world [Lee, Chen and Lin] are all competing, so I know winning again will be difficult.” .
Kido Ready to "Bleed" for Indonesia JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Players doubles specialist, Markis Kido, promised to try to play as good as possible at the Asian Games despite facing many obstacles in its preparation. With his partner Kido, Hendra Setiawan, who is currently ranked three in the world, becoming one contributor medal hope for the Indonesian contingent at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, November 13 to 21. "When viewed from the results lately, a little heavy for us in the Asian Games," said Kido in Jakarta on Friday (22/10/2010). "But I want to play the maximum, trying to play my best," he added. Of the seven tournaments they attended this year, Kido / Hendra won only once in the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold. In the four other parties, they stopped in the semifinals, including two championship final in the Macau Open and the World Championships last August. Since then, pairs gold medalist 2008 Olympics is not a duet again after a canceled show in Japan Super Series last month. The reason, Hendra sick, and absent in Indonesia, Samarinda Gold GP because Hendra is absent. They will again compete in the Denmark Super Series which will take place on October 26 to 31. Kido admit, not been performed with Hendra, it was a bit much effect on their appearance. "The effect certainly exists, but what can we do. We in the outside (pelatnas) already have their own responsibilities," said contributor to the 2006 Asian Games bronze medal it. According to the results of the draw game, Kido / Hendra are to be seeded second in the bottom half and got a bye in the first round. In the second round, they meet the winner between Malaysian pair Mak Hee Chun / Tan Wee Kiong and Hiroyuki Endo / Kenichi Hayakawa of Japan. Faced the possibility of serious opponent in the quarterfinals of the eighth seed from Taiwan, Chen Hung Ling / Lin Yu Lang, is located. As in their path in the semi-finals, Olympic champion pair was likely to meet arch-rivals, third seeded Jung Jae Sung / Lee Yong Dae of South Korea or the world champion Fu Haifeng / Cai Yun of China. Fu / Cai is a couple who defeated Kido / Hendra at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, but beat them in the 2010 World Championships. The Jung / Lee won four of their six meetings with Kido / Hendra. "Both heavy. They are the same level, even if met they always lose-win (alternate)," said Kido comment on these two couples. Meanwhile, the Malaysian world number one player rumored, Lee Chong Wei, will still be competing at the Asian Games despite an ankle injury after defending his country at the Commonwealth Games in India. "I've talked to Chong Wei twice after justifying his injury and all I can say is that he really wanted to compete in the Asian Games. He still had three weeks and have started to undergo treatment," said Director General of National Sports Council (NSC) Datuk Zolkples Embong as quoted by the official pages Badminton Association of Malaysia (www.bam.org.my). Chong Wei chance to meet players Indonesian, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, if both reach the semifinals in Guangzhou.
humble taufik that's why i like him but inside his heart, only he knows while we, as usual only make noise
..depends how one defines "high-level badminton"..Last time i noticed, despite different results, LD checked in, in both of this yr's China Master SS and Japan Open SS Final Rds., in back to back weeks..
Actually, only LCW at the moment has the potential to make LD at his best(full motivation) work hard, provided that LCW also plays his best. Probably, LD won't even need to play high-level badminton to breeze past the team event, as Malaysia (LCW) with a rather weak team this time will find it tough to get past South Korea. LCW should only play one less match than LD himself. Therefore, I would say that LD meeting LCW would not give much of an advantage to LCW, despite LD having played one match more as simply put, he can breeze past his opponents except LCW. Regarding the main topic : At the World Championships, people say that it's simply impossible to grab all 5. Even I doubted it, and thought the most they would get is 4. Well, they have proved me wrong. Now, 7 is definitely not impossible and I am believing that a total, clean sweep is possible from China.
agree ..LD despite not playing regularly, he is more than able to breeze past his opponents. I won't read too much into his poor form or little tournament experience..look at TC2010, he creamed every MS1 including LCW
. Yes, a clean sweep of 7 titles is possible, but more BCers have voted for 5 titles. As I post right now, there are 15 votes submitted so far; 7 titles for China...... 4 votes......26.67% 6 titles for China...... 2 votes......13.33% 5 titles for China...... 7 votes......46.67% 4 titles for China...... 2 votes......13.33% .
If LCW is not competing, don't be surprised if Thailand can defeat Malaysia . The Malaysian team is seeded No.2 (with LCW). If LCW is not competing, don't be surprised if Thailand can defeat Malaysia at the Team Quarter-Finals. .
Yup, but since LCW is competing, we assume that at the worst we should be able to pull off a 3-1 win, as Hafiz might have difficulties meeting Tanongsak.
Precisely, different results...LD didnt win both. You know very well that AG is like TC + WC Asia version. We shall see how LD copes this AG if he plays all the team matches.
7 golds for china? you guys must be joking.. if that happens i shall ban myself from bc for 7 days lol unless of course they chose the jia yu linesmen lol
I don't think CHN will win 7, losing either MS or MD...5 is a done deal...I predict 6 gold and the 6th gold would come from MS or MD...I am saying MS for CHN is 50-50, even though LD is still the favorite to win at home...CHN MD is on a 4-tournament winning streak, to score a 5th win, of course it is possible playing at home but CY/FHF IMO is due for a fall, and that is why I don't think they can win, also in MD the field is very competitive and depends on who is in top form will probably win it. But I would not bet against CHN cleaning all 7 and banning myself.....
7 golds would be nobody accept the china team was there 6 golds could be they lost only one in the ms, md and xd i still say 5 is more like it
