still maintain belief dat datuk's achievements, skills, speed/stamina is completely overshadowed by Super Dan.
when u see them play, especially in major tournaments, datuk always get slaughtered by the dominant Super Dan. always run home and come out with excuses to bluff de fans.
sometimes he kenot even get the chance to meet the legend and even lose to ppl like sony and some indian/vietnamis player.
in the games dat datuk is allowed to win (for sympathy or tactical reasons), datuk always struggle and need his best effort.

de only ever person who can hold a candle to Super Dan in this era is Taufik. and in badminton history, is Yang Yang.

in asian games it would be no different. another nightmare outing for datuk is much expected bcos Super Dan wants this one to complete is impressive trophy collection.

    fine, that's your opinion

as i said you are entitled to it!

its true lcw when playing with lin dan, has to go all out,

in fact he has to play well over 100% to get spectators like us glued to the tv screen.

and this include the rest of the players including

    choi hoi jin,

    taufik hidayat,

    peter gade,

    ps park,

    bao cl,

    chen jin

oopst! did i missed anyone who has taken a set or game off him?

pls stay within de topic, as we shld juz focus on datuk and super dan. mentioning too many other players name will run out topic immediately. think b4 u post ok?

if u play badminton, den u shld realize taking a set off anybody doesn't mean a thing. sometimes, it is de strategy of the victor to play arnd with the loser b4 going for the kill. dis is behavior of deadly predators. of course, they will kill their food immediately, but if u can observe, cats will toy arnd with de rats, catching and releasing them before killing.
same thing like how super dan plays. otherwise it wld be so borring right?

Well, you know what they say, the worst thing you can wish on someone is that their hobby becomes their occupation.

In that sense, badminton is deadly serious business for pro players who depend on it for a living.

For me, I'm just glad that I'm not good enough to compete. :p:D

what about if we wait and see if they both get to the finals first? even tho it is very likely...

too bad CJ is injured... i really like that guy when hes 100% which he is like never in that condition....

as for 2012 OG... slowed and aging LD and LCW vs a more experienced CJ?

Lin Dan can certainly lay claim to be the greatest of all time purely on achievements in BIG tournaments.

I suppose in that respect maybe only Rudy Hartono can challenge him.

In China sports LD is listed as the 14 legends of China Badminton along with Tang Xian Hu,Hou Jia Chang, Yang Yang & Zhao Jian Hua.

Noticeably missing from the list are world and All england champions like Sun Jun,Xia Xuan Ze ,Han Jian,Luan Jin,Ye Zhao Ying and Han Ai Ping.

Do u think it is because these players are not clear cut and dominant winners...like there is Arby beating SJ, Susi beating YZY and Li Ling Wei beating HAP, and Morten beating HJ? To be legends, players would have to be standout and reign supreme during their peak times.

Probably, make up by female players like Li Ling wei, Gong Zhi Chao, Ge Fei (WD), Gao Ling, etc....who dominated during their reign and crowned OLY champ, etc...

ya, the ladies of course but it couldn't be more than the men? 5 to 9?

then the ladies must be also dominating in those days

If double pairs are included in the legend, then there are 2 players per pair...LYB/TBY have won 2WC and AEs, Fu/Cai has won 2 or 3 WC, are they included?....then in the ladies, we have Gao Ling/HS and Gei Gei/Gu Jun, that alone are 4 players plus Li Ling Wei, Gong ZC, that makes 6 so we need 3 more to make 9...but if the legend is only for single players, then you are right that where are the other 9 players come from....maybe Bbn can find out the legend list.
