China is preparing CL to be the next super star in badminton to take over LD. LD walked over was kind of expected. CL actually stands a pretty good chance against LCW; it is just a matter of time.

The semi-final clash between Chong Wei and Lin Dan will not materialize due to LD’s conceding a walkover to CL because of back injury.

The tournament referee Jane Wheatley of Australia confirmed that a medical test conducted by a Malaysian doctor yesterday certified that Lin Dan was not fit to play.
She said, “Lin Dan was getting ready for today’s play during a morning training session but he suffered a recurrence of an old injury on his left abdominal area. He was advised to forgo the match and take proper rest. It is a pity he will miss the match.”
It was the third time in a row that Lin Dan had walked out on his opponents in the Super Series event with the same problem. He did the same against NTM at the China Open and against CL at the Hong Kong Open.
The withdrawal elicited negative remarks from the top two seeds in the tournament.
LCW said, “All the fans had waited for a semi-final match between Lin Dan and me but it is not happening. I am sure the fans will be upset but I cannot do anything about it. Maybe the BWF should look into this. But then, what can the world body do if a player does not want to play? He said that he is injured but it could be a tactical ploy.”
TH said, “I am not sure how serious his injury is but I find it very unsporting for him to concede a walkover. It is high time that BWF look into this matter because it is not good for the sport. Maybe, they should prevent him from going to back-to-back tournaments if he skips one”.
However, China’s coach Xia Xuanze said that Lin Dan would make the trip to the US$1.2mil South Korea Open next week. He added, “He has aggravated the same injury that saw him walking out of the China and Hong Kong Opens. We will monitor his progress.”
It is indeed strange that Xia Xuanze could assure that LD would make the trip to Korea next week despite saying at the same time that LD has aggravated his back injury. Is he medically savvy to make such a pronouncement?
This makes the fans to wonder aloud as to the game plan of the Chinese and it is very negative indeed. A lot of them have snapped up the tickets for the anticipated clash between LCW and LD and this will now not happen. CL will obviously be very fresh in his semi-final clash against LCW and that is not a fair contest. LD should have played against CL and then ‘retire’ if he was unable to continue. That was what TH did against CL in the BWF Super Series Finals 2010 tournament after playing almost 2 full games with the score at 21-15, 14-11 in CL’s favor, on 6/1/2011. TH is indeed a gentleman and no one could fault him for his ‘retirement’. He respected his fans, the BWF and the organizers and sponsors of the tournament too much to disappoint them.

Look, we all know the reason behind Lin dan's walkover and it's certainly not injury. No point to continue bitching over it. I heard that the semi-final ticket was sold out by Wednesday because everyone wanted to watch the "clash of the titans" match. I just feel sorry for those gullible fans.

Question, I see sometimes see people posting picture of badminton player signing autograph and posing with fans after the finals or somewhere in between. Usually how long after the match ends do we have to wait for that

I think the LYB wants to groom CL thus allowing him more "play time" with LCW to "feel" LCW's game. They are gearing both LD and CL for the OG 2012.
