LD is a very SHREWD player, able to best use the drift and manage his stamina.

Who would believe he can accelerate in the last 5 points in the match and play at the speed of OLY08 after more than an hour.

Probably could be tactics worked out by coaches. One can never expect what type of tactics LD can employ, he can even mix various

tactics in various parts of the game.

That's the turning point when LD pumped up the tempo and grabbed 6 points in a row to close match. Yeah, as bdm fans we want to see high quality match between this two best, LD vs LCW :)

Yup, hopefully Simon can maintain his best performance in next tourneys.

Yeah, except Tao Jiaming/Tian Qing who become runner-up twice in MAS & KOR ;)

Ld sure was uncomfortable in set 1 when LCW cleared deep to his backhand, his backhand or overhead clear fell short and was easily put down.

That could be some sort of injury, but surprisingly in the closing stages of the final set, that problem disappeared and he was able to play and move like OLY 2008, getting behind the shuttle easily.

IN a way you are right, hardly there is a player who can beat him on a regular basis.

Hopefully soon LCW would be that person.

But then to be the world No 1 LD must play in many more tournaments which he didnt play, so he does not deserve that No. 1 ranking.

How I wish LCW could just cut down and not play too many tournies, as many had suggested.
Trouble is he had no worthy sparring partner at home if he doesnt go to all and sundry tournies.

Okay lets be honest here, to those that watch the game live through streaming they should know that it wasn't really any "fear". Lin dan was very tactical. He preserved a lot of energy for rubber game. First game he just won it by some crucial points. Second game LD made LCW work hard which eventually tired LCW out. Third game was also same as 2nd. Lin Dan only applied pressure when needed. And he only went all in with smash when he knew it was sure point. So please put aside the "fear" topic aside. The better player won this time. However, it was badminton at its finest! I enjoyed staying till 6am watching it. Worth every second =D

No Lin Dan , china can still send on Chen Jin , Bao Chun lai and Chen Long for other super series.

If Malaysia dont send Lee chong wei for tournaments , who else can they send ?

They still need their World No 1 Chong wei to be there.

True, fear is not the word,

Lcw needs to be patience playing Lin Dan,

This fella anticipation is good, just see how he intercepted lcw cross court lift in the rubber game.

Overall, Lin Dan has a very high fitness level this time :D

A very enjoyable game indeed :)

the problem with LCW was that he was beating all the other upcoming heroes and old masters too easily so when facing a true master he crumbled under the pressure losing six straight point in the dying moments of the rubber set.. LD played the big points well like the 1st set against SS when he was down 16-20 and calmly crawled back and win.
agreed or not LD got the talents while LCW had to work very hard to be where he is right now.

LCW was pushing LD all over the court (and vice versa of course). Particularly his fast attacking cross court clears seemed to really put LD off balance. It looked to me like he's come up with a good game plan against Lin Dan. He just needs to keep it together when the end is near. It all happened so quickly. One minute it's super close, and then the next, he makes some silly mistakes and basically hands Lin Dan the match. You can afford to make a few silly mistakes early in the game but not at 16-16 (or whatever it was) in the third.

    Come on Baddy,
if you have followed the games between LCW and LD all along,
you would not wanna deny the psychological fear or rather barrier i call it,
whenever LCW comes face to face with LD on court.

Say you play 20 times with a person, and that person won more than 15x,
and now you are asked to go in again and the nation and everyone at home expected you to win it.
Tell me would you feel uncomfortable or not?

If you still say no, then consider you are also the World No 1, and everyone else including the press is criticing
you heavily everytime you lose to Lin Dan. How do you feel now?

If you still wanna deny that, then add it with the insult that at important tournament like the Olympic,
you are being outplayed and humiliated like a novice in full public view as the so called World No.1!!

Would you fear your opponent of that kind now?

Having said that this time LCW had done much much better , and come
close close to winning it, but i say that is insufficient to cure his own "internal fear:..

LCW cannot beat LD on a regular basis if LD w/o or avoids him on a regular basis.

Luckily for us fans,LCW is in the same era as LD. Against other opponents, LD is not worth watching. But put LCW opposite LD, we get spectacular matches. Don't think any future stars will come near because none of the upcoming youngsters have their speeds.

So appreciate both while you can.

    Totally agree.
Whoever wins G1 has the advantage to determine energy level for G3.

There is a strong pattern to how Team CHN close out a match. It s usually a high energy finish. It did not just happen. They train intensely for it. If their opponents managed to use up their energy in the third quarter of a game (just after the interval),
CHN players may not be able to close out the match as trained.

The good thing now is we re likely to get 3 game matches when LCW and LD meet. LD will have a slight advantage because of his comprehensive coach and video backup Team. LCW will have his one-man coach, MS and his own smartness to guide him. Now if LCW will understand that if he does more video analysis, he can make his life easier...because that would make his match preparations complete...
