Yup, LCW always won over his opponents with straight-sets including the toughest one, LD. Well done For the first time LCW def. LD in prestigious tourney, congrats!
Congrats to LCW but people let's not forget the facts and get too excited: LD VS LCW Head to Head record : 15 --- 8 http://www.bwfbadminton.org/headtohead.aspx?dt=2&t1p1=50152&t2p1=50906 LCW still has a long way to prove himself.
Who cares about the past. And waht do you mean by don't get too excited? This is the All England thread isnt it? Congrats to LCW! Its like talking about Liverpool has more league titles than Man Utd.
If we don't get too excited now then when? Not just beating Lin Dan, Chen Long and Bao Chunlai, rather how he beat them, sign of maturing of our Datuk.
I finally managed to watch the LD v LCW match. Not a classic, but a very cagey, thinking-man's match. LD looked a little tired and his legs did not allow him to push off like they normally would (2 tournaments in a row will do that to you). When required, LCW's lifts and clears were high and deep, neutralizing the opportunity for LD to unleash his trademark jump smashes. This I believe was the key. For the most part, LCW played a semi-aggressive game, hitting the bird down while LD was content to lift and more so, clear. LD's net game was patchy, mixing brilliance with carelessness. LCW more than matched him in the speed department, managing to put up a wall and forcing LD to search for winners. At 18-17 in the 1st game, on LCW's lift to LD's forehand corner, LD took a quick peek to see whether the bird might be out or not and this moment's hesitation caused him to dump his attempted drop into the net. LD was charging up to this point and this basically deflated his momentum, allowing LCW to push on to take the game. Anyway, congrats to LCW. It was his day today. I have no doubt LD will be back with a vengeance. His planning and preparation is generally meticulous and I'm sure the next time won't be so easy for LCW.
LCW IS the World No.1 . Agree. However, a few BCers are still not convinced that LCW IS our World No.1. .
What makes a player World No.1 . Sorry again. The discussion in the past has always been who is World No.1: LCW or LD ? H2H Records still showing LD is No.1. BWF Rankings still showing LCW is No.1. It's up to us BCers to decide what makes a player World No.1. .
Yes, its never easy for any one to beat LD especaially in a major title final........ LCW worked very hard in training even without MS help............Its good to see the one that never tired trying, and trying and finally able to beat LD in a major title final........I am very happy for him, LCW.
I would say LCW is the legitimate World Number 1 (he was even when doubters take into account his H2Hs) now. No question. As to who will dominate the rest of the year and up to next year's OG12 is another thing. But I guess the top 4 Men's Singles players in the world will have to vacate for the young guns after 2012!
P...L E A S E !!! Did u watch yesterday how he just sat or slump thr in his chair not showing any interest or discussing with TSB on the on going game?? He shd be the last one to take over..
I am just happy that LCW has remained as World No.1 . We cannot control this thread (as to what our BCers can/will post). I, myself, started a thread that LCW IS World No.1; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...Chong-Wei-remain-World-No.1-until-the-2012-OG I am just happy that LCW has remained as No.1 (compared to some; thinking that LD could win this 2011 All England, therefore getting more ranking points to topple LCW). Now, don't tell me that I shouldn't cross referencing topics that are irrelevant to this thread, like; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...inton-skirts?p=1637810&viewfull=1#post1637810 .
Chris, let's not bring this up and stroke the fire. Just concentrate and savour on this AE title that he just retained. Please..............
