Was dere watching the quarter n semis n will watch finals 2moro
heres my report on the semis as i remember..

    Games summary of semifinals
    WS Gu Juan vs Zhu Lin 21 - 16 21 - 18
Both sides were playing to corners but zhu lin couldnt get to them because her knee was obviously giving her pain..:(
Also some bad line calls agasint zhu lin sealed the game

    MS Wong Wing Ki vs Tommy Surgiarto 21 - 11 21 - 11
They played singles like how it should be in both games, tactical and smashign when opportunity presents itself
Dont believe the score, it was a very hardfought battle for the points
In 2nd game, Tommy had serveral line calls against him and got a bit upset over it but still wasnt enough to get back at Wong

Note, i do have something to say about the quality of line judging in NZ, during one call the line judge didnt react at all, and was just about to give Tommy the point when the line judge signalled out, prompting the umpire to change the call to Wong's favour
This has happened through out the semis, with some line judges not calling, leaving the umpire to call it and also quite a couple of unsighted ones.. come on, look at the age of some of them..

    WS Sato Sayaka vs Yip Pui Yin 21 - 8 21 - 15
Pui Yin made a lot of unforced errors at the net and back backhand corner
Sayaka effectively controleld the pace wif her control and retrival games and it paid off when Pui Yin smashed several times into the net
At the 2nd game, Pui Yin got back some of her pace, even coming back to 14 17 from 11 17
However she still made the occasional mistake and at the critical point of 15 19, she managed to force a chance shot from Sayaka but missed the chance shot with a mistimed smash. From then on, Sayaka effectively mopped the game up 21 15

    MD Huang Po Yi/Lu Cia Bin vs Chooi Kah Ming/Ow Yao Han 21 - 14 21 - 19
Huang/Lu took the first game easily with ferecious jumping smashes. From the start of the 2nd game to halfway, they took a relaxed approach, not bothering to jump smash while the malaysians became bolder in their attacks, jump smashing more often as if desperate to take the 2nd game. However this was not the cause as from about 14 all, Huang/Lu upped their attack pace, forcing Chooi/Ow to defensive and eventually taking the 2nd game

    MS Takeshita Riichi vs Hafiz Hashim 21 - 13 21 - 15
Both sides almost like the previous MS, abiet slightly more offensively
Hafiz used a lot of trick shots to stump Riichi but it wasnt enough as Riichi saw through it quickly, In the end, Hafiz lost points from too many mistakes, from doing a bit too many trick shots and playing at the net a bit too high, letting Riichi netkill them

Notes: Hafiz is now under Li Ning, with N55 Flame, Riichi one of the Vt users in the tourney, having a Vt80 at ready

    MD Chrisnanta Danny Bawa/ Wijaya Hendra vs Goh Wei Shem/Lim Khim Wah 18 - 21 21 - 16 22 - 20
I have often heard the best doubles combination is 1 leftie + 1 righty, however, both pairs were that sort of combination. Both aggressively attacked each other, leaving only the point difference to decide the winner. Near the end of the third game, Goh/Lim mnaged to crawl up from 15 - 19 to 20 all. However, the malaysians did a bad service that landed short and at the last 21 20, they let what they thought was a flickhigh serve out that actually landed in and left the winnign point to the singaporeans

On a note, congrats to Yonemoto Koharu whos now in the finals for both WD and XD
and Voltric 80.. the one racquet to rule them all?:p

Not bad for SIN, finalists in three events!

Hope Gu Juan will be able to win her first title, albeit in this low ranking tourney. It will boost her confidence level. And also our XD where local-born Vanessa Neo will be playing. But they are up against the JPN players who are usually tough to beat.

Best of luck to our Singapore players!
