Day 2 already begin : Some interesting matches today : Tommy v Kazushi Yamada Lu Yi v Nguyen Tien Minh Sho Sasaki v Hafiz Hashim Aprilia v Porntip Gu Juan v Tai Tzu Ying All the best !!
Don't forget: Boonsak vs Arvind Bhat; Brice Leverdez vs Yan Kit Chan; Mathieu Lo Ying Ping vs WCH. Upsets in these matches would not be impossible.
LWW/CCM start well against Japanese pair Kenta/Hirobe....winning first set 21-15 but trailing 7-19 in 2nd set
Wong/Chin (MAS) on the comeback trail. Wonder if they still have it. A powderpuff match to get them back into the swing of things
The negative side of this is that if they should advance further, they will be too tired to perform at their best, especially in singles! BTW I don't know what went wrong with our XD pair of Danny and Vanessa when they have to retire in the third game yesterday. In today's MD, Danny and Hendra lost to the Japanese in three games, while Vanessa and Ting Ting prevailed over their Austrailian opponents. Although Vanessa must have an easier draw today, it seems Danny is the one who may be suffering from fatigue.
LWW/CCM prove they still have some gas in their tank...wrapping in 3 sets 21-15, 8-21, 21-11 judging from the score in 2nd set, i thought they will not make it in 3rd set..
Only left 2 Aussies pairs. 1 Mix and 1 MD. I think tomorrow probably no more Aussies competing. Hopefully the Mix doubles can continue
Tough test for both Tommy & Aprilia, let's see what the outcome Meanwhile Firda, hopefully she'll progress into QF against TPE qualifier Pai Yu Po and next to meet most likely reigning World Champ Wang Lin.
It's really tough for our Aussie players . It's really tough for our Aussie players. Our standard is much lower than those of our visiting nations. :crying::crying::crying: .
I think the problem is traning plus history. Aussie need someone to become popular, then the youngster had the effort to go on.
I suppose badminton is not a core sport of Australian government. It is difficult to make much headway without government support and promotion. There is a limit to what the private sector can do as badminton is not seen to be bringing in the big bucks unfortunately.
On paper, Firda should through. Tommy is looking good atm. Aprilia faces the toughest, time for her to shine again
