    2011 India Open SS: Day 1 Tuesday 26-April

    In just a few hours' time (9:00am New Delhi time), the qualification matches will start. The schedule of matches can be found located at;

    This is the first time India is hosting a SS tournament. The venue is at the Siri Fort Indoor Stadium, Siri Fort Road, New Delhi.

    There are only 5 non-IND qualifiers participating, and we expect most of them to make it to Round 1 tomorrow. And they are;

    Womens Singles
    (1) Poon Lok Yan (Hong Kong)
    (2) Tse Ying Suet [4] (Hong Kong)
    (3) Monika Fasungova [2] (Slovakia)

    Mens Singles
    (1) Suppanyu Avihingsanon [4] (Thailand)
    (2) Tan Chun Seang [2] (Malaysia)

    * Tse Ying Suet [4] (Hong Kong) defeated by Arundhati Pantawane (IND)
    21-19, 14-21, 22-20 in 46 minutes.

    * Monika Fasungova [2] (Slovakia) defeated by Neha Pandit (IND)
    21-08, 21-12 in 21 minutes.

    Remainder

    Poon Lok Yan (Hong Kong), Suppanyu Avihingsanon [4] (Thailand) and Tan Chun Seang [2] (Malaysia) should be playing very soon.

    Only Poon Lok Yan who has advanced into main draw so far as Tan Chun Seang is still playing rubber against local player Sourabh Verma.
    Not bad perfomance by home shuttlers :)
