on the other side of the coin, one of the best sportsmanship is the current olympic champion M Kido and H Setiawan. always show thier courtesy to their opponents, linemen and umpire. hardly ever argue about the bad calls and let their rackets do the talking. really a ture champion.

lets hope they get back their fitness and form for the 2012 london.

Lars and Jonas always act very gentlemen like on court, that's why they are one of my most favorite pair so far.

IMO these threads don't really lead anywhere constructive; no offence meant to the thread starter though. :)
My feeling is, they tend to encourage stereotyping, and as a result, create divisiveness.

I think we already changed the topic to focus on boe and mogensen, the thread title already disregarded. :)

i watched the 1st point till the 5th. i can't find this shout. it's LCW v Tago right?

anyways, bad sportsmanship is not limited to the Danes. many other professional players try to influence line judges too. no player does it every point (as far as i know) but there are those who do i more than others. i know Cai Yun does it quite a lot, he's always calling the shot before the line judge can decide.

It s not a Den exclusive. If you follow enough matches, CHN is No 1 in this area.

I must agree that we are not generalising any nations. I did notice WSX celebrating with fist held high before the shuttle hitting the floor. In fact many players do so once in awhile. But what is disturbing is the attitude Boe gesturing 'keep quiet' to his opponents when the line call is favourable to them. Total no respect at all. This is the duty of the umpire not opponents. Further more during the last Denmark open, when the service judge ruled that Boe has flicked his service above waist a few times, he was caught on camera stating clearly 'I will get you replaced if you do it again'! The service judge just sat there dumbfounded. He didn't even report this to the umpire. I was so dissappointed with Boe's arrogance.

    ^^

But just to make others be aware that his mental games step over the lines of proper sportsmanship. For sure, he's not gonna win any award for being an ambassador of badminton.

I can easily imagine how his compatriots back in his home country would love to play against him.

i think they're used to doing that during training as they wont have any line judges sitting in every corner of the court to watch out for the lines for them. So i think its just a habit for them and they cant really control it when it gets excited during matches

I agree. Most of the time I wish to see boe and morgonsen lose due to their behaviour.

Then there will another on CHN players and etc, etc. I am not defending BoMO. Most of us have stayed long enough to know the various type of players.

    No nation bashing or over-generalistions.

Danish players on the whole show some of the best sportsmanship on the circuit, but in every country you will occasionally get players who are worse than others and right now Boe and Morgensen seem particularly bad.

It's really up to the officials to stamp it out.
